I’m getting married in May in pakistan but bcoz of work and all I’m only going 7 days before my wedding. I can’t afford to go back to pakistan now and get my bridal clothes made in advance. My question is if i go what will be available to me ready made? Is it as nice as what i could have designed and would they be able to make it in 5 days? I’ll be going to lahore. any pictures of the ready made stuff in bazaars atm?
Also I’ve seen some replica companies on facebook and it just seems like the work replicated is so big and thick and cheap-ish. Instead of stones they use those flat sitare and then a bead on top to give a similar effect but it just never is. Also the material never falls the way it does in the original, is this just coz the pictures aren’t proffesional or is replicated work really not that great?
It’s really stressing me out. I just can’t afford to go back to pakistan even though i would LOVE too! All of this is just making me wish i wasn’t born a girl. Why do we have to get married? This is supposed to be fun and exciting but it feels the complete opposite. I hate that its turning me into such a bridezilla I never wanted it to be like this:'( AlhamduliAllah I shud be greatful for what I have.
Although there are many places where you can get ready made formal wear in lahore (labels, pfcd, FPL, ensambles etc etc) there are limited places where you can get ready made bridal wear. I was in lahore a few weeks back and I only saw a few nice ready made bridals, theres a store across from labels in lahore (in the basement) that had a very nice purple bridal outfit i think it was for around 2 lakhs also the Bareeze in defense now has ready made bridal wear, they were really nice but VERY expensive (around 3+ lakhs) I guess they have it for people that need to buy it last minute and have no other choice. You can look into that - if not there are many designers that have an online ordering process. Thats what I did for my barat outfit and went to a local tailor to get my measurements done. I did end up meeting the designer but it was just incase I didnt. At the end of it, it really depends on your budget. let me know if you have any more questions!

Just curious, why ordering online isn't an option? You have time for that if you order right now so you'll have a peace of mind and your dress will be ready by the time you'll reach Pakistan and you can try it on and check if any amends are required.

Thanks for your help. how did you find online ordering? did they do excatly what you wanted them too and what about the neatness of the work?

what worries me most abour online ordering is the fear of them making it look cheap. I want the work to be fine and thin and intricate and all the online facebook ones just dont seem to be able to manage that. Unless you are aware of any good online designers? My budget is not much its around 80k
I know someone who is one of the famous designers neices and her aunt made her a heavy wedding gown for $150. She sold it to her for at cost. Same gown would sell for $3,000.00 See how much the markup is! Ever since then, I don't want to go to any designers because the people who do the kaam don't get the money, it's the middle men getting rich while those who do the work get next to nothing.
I have a few really nice outfits from a small shop in Lahore, called Think Pink. Good Quality work and totally dependable. I think you could easily buy a nice jhora for 80K there. I'll look through my stuff to see if I can find you a contact informtion.
Regardless of where you go, give them 3 months to make your outfit and then give yourself 1 month wiggle room incase you need alterations or somethings else turns up so that means order 4-5 months before the wedding.
Malaika Adnan is great but I doubt you will get a custom bridal by May from a designer like her or even any home based vendor that will do the kind of kaam you seem to be requiring. Not to mention 80K is quite a small budget if you are after intricate and neat kaam... unless it's going to be a light-ish bridal in regards to the kaam.
If you don't have something very specific in mind, you WILL find ready to wear in Pakistan and 7 days is more than enough as long as you make a list of the places worth shopping in and check them out immediately.
Think Pink is in Liberty and Liberty is one of the places you should check out for ready to wear bridal wear.
This was really helpful, her work is exactly want im looking for, do you know if her prices are reasonable? I e-mailed her still waiting for a reply. Thank you!
no i’m not after Labels. Just cheap but gud quality. I don’t mind cutting out the middle man and going straight to base. I just wouldn’t know how to contact anyone from London. Even on facebook they can ask for some crazy prices. malaika adnan was a gud suggestion but just waiting on a price quote now
Malaika's FB page clearly says:
" Malaika Adnan February 7
Orders closed till March end ..We are launching our new Collection on 28th March :"
Some of her light formals are around 20K so guess yourself if you can get a bridal for 80K.
Let's say you need the dress by the start of May, you have about 6 weeks to discuss details and finalise the order, make a payment and then for the person to start... good luck!
I am going to Pak 3-4 weeks before wedding, but have ordered my dress from a boutique in London. I guess you would find something within 7 days, otherwise order from here!

I'm from London too, Where did you order it from and what sort of price? I've been green street, ilford lane and southall. Even tried whitechapel and bethnal green but the price quotes I get all start from £1000. Where should I be looking?

Alot of options have opened up since i started this thread, thanks alot for all the guidance. I did really like her stuff but I don't think I'd be able to wait for a responce, I e-mailed and still nt heard back. I've heard about think pink, do you know what their price range is for bridals? and if they have a facebook page?
7 days is cutting it VERY close and you'll be at the mercy of what is in the shops. either find someone reliable and place an order online, or be prepared to wear whatever is available. plus, frankly, for a bridal your budget is low. pakistan is more expensive than it seems!
contact Catwalk and Prototype on this forum - they also make bridal wear and might be able to help you.

I have ordered mine from Ilford lane. Hmmm, price wise if you want a pakistani looking dress it will be over £1000 to be honest. Mine was quoted at £2500 but with some alterations it will be £2000. Otherwise you can get the poofy net dresses for under £1000. To be honest with your budget I would definitely have a look in Pak rather that here, InSha Allah you will find what you want as long as you are not very very specific!
