dress for an overweight girl

Hi all. i am quite overweight (arms & hips ) esp.. i need to design a dress for me, formal wear.could anyone pls guide me what style should i keep the dress so that it flatters my body shape ( PEAR ) or just doesnt make me look bad. Im a short person.the wedding is in karachi.

Re: dress for an overweight girl

It goes w/o saying...something loose on the heavier parts so that they don't get accentuated. however, you cant go too loose giving an illusion of even more mass than there is.

If you have comparatively smaller waist line, you can play with that part.

Re: dress for an overweight girl

Straight cut long shirt and straight pants will slim you down significantly

Re: dress for an overweight girl

Longer, A line shirt with drop sides daaman....the wider, droped sides help balance out the hips....a chooridar pajama works well with this cut also

Re: dress for an overweight girl

I feel choridars only actually end up accentuating wider hips.

^ not with an A line shirt! I'm also a pear shape..my hips are my downfall, and i've found this silhouette works great for me. Proto made y my eid dress in this style this year and I got so many compliments on it...I honestly felt like it made me look 10lbs slimmer!

last time i wore a gown which looked really bad :(
should i go for an angarkha ??

Def get fitted 3/4 sleeves or get long fitted sleeves. Agree with khatti on the a line with dropped sides. Churidaar to balance on the flowy dress. I feel like the flared sleeves on flared flow shirts make a girl look bigger. The flowy shirts shud be balanced with structured fitted sleeves. Anything with a nice fall will make you look slimmer.
