the story doesn't surprise me at all. its amazing though.
it happens and there are so many things allah swt has hidden from us, most which leave us guessing. but these things do happen.

Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
oh yes ofcourse dreams are real and predict future events. Like i had a dream the day before the bachelorrete season 5 finale and I knew ed was gonna get picked. So surreal.
Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
@ Khoji
Finally, a wake up call for u. good to know.
Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
We live in a strange universe.
same here.
khoji, it happens all the time.
Many a times we can assign some sort of explanation to such events. But in this incident her mother was in good health when she left the country. Her death was sudden. No one expected it. Secondly, there was no information flow to my aunt, because she was in another country.
But even then my aunt started having dreams about her mother's death. That's plain ESP. No other explanation.
Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
Lot of people have experienced this, in one way or another.
I got involved into a very fussy fight at college but did not want to tell my parenst about it. One of those days i was feeling very down and felt as if there was no one i could count on. Exactly the same time my mother was in a different country attending a party and feeling that something is very wrong. Her friends sensed it and asked whats wrong. She said desont know but is just feeling utterly sad and worried. They advised her to call me. She could not rea ch me and sent my cousin to find out, thats how she came to know whats going on.

testifies that not everything is logical.
I wonder if ESP has anything to do with quantum mechanics?! Because quantum world is also so weird that scientists have given up hope of trying to make sense of it.
Take a look at this picture of a quantum skier:
![]()
Is it possible? In quantum mechanics it IS possible. And there is no logical explanation of this strange behavior of sub-atomic particles.
This weirdness of quantum world is similar to ESP.
Watch “The Elegant Universe” by Brian Green if you haven’t already. Superb work and presentation on the subjects of Quantum Physics, The String theory, Unifying of the 4 forces of nature and so much more.
Although it’s not about ESP and other psychic phenomena we are talking about here, it definitely makes it a lot more easier for us to understand that such things are not abnormal and are happening in the Universe all the time.

Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
hmm, some interesting stories in here.
last week i wasn't sleeping well and was constantly waking up in the middle of the night only to stay awake. i had a really uneasy/restless feeling. i randomly went through my drawer and saw that i was missing $550. No idea how since i keep my money hidden, I haven't spent it and no one knows about it. I usually get these weird sort of feelings if I'm about to lose something or if I'm about to receive bad news. Strange.
Watch "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Green
I am watching it on youtube. Very interesting. Thanks for the link.

I find it funny when people try to argue about the Creator when we are not even capable of understanding the creation.
I don't know why I never get any such feelings. I feel left out. It hurts even more since I thought I was a very sensitive person?!
Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
I've often experienced this, each time something bad's going to happen I get a dream, I got dreams before both my mother and father's death and just last month I saw that my mother was taking me to hospital, when I woke up I was freaked out and told my husband that I'm gonna die, though I didn't die but after few days of this dream i got pretty sick and had to go to the hospital.
I also find Istikhara very interesting, it's a way to look into future, I wonder if other religions/faiths have the same concept!

Peace khoji
I think it might be a stretch to equate signs and indications from the spiritual domain to pseudo-science such as ESP.
Theoretical scientists have a way of divorcing matters of the soul or higher Living Being, but arriving at these equally abstract ideas passing them off as science. I personally do not believe that we can measure things from the 'hidden' world that is why they are hidden, not just invisible, but completely hidden to our means of measurement, however at the same time very much present in our ensemble of experiences.
There are however scientific indicators that something must be happening. To me a dream is a substance of experience not just a film being played in the mind. Scientists don't want to entertain a reality other than this physical existence, but when they introduce matter being in or out of phase, they can come to conclusions of co-existence whilst being invisible to each other. It's the way you view wave-particle duality, at what point does our matter cease to behave like particles and more like waves?
The dream realm from our perspective on the other hand suggests that intelligence and meaning is behind them and that there is a greater purpose to life. Modern science wants the purpose of life to be defined by what the pioneers say (usually atheistic neo-darwinists) not about what the religious say.
Now you don't understand why it is that you don't get these feelings and suggestions, I would argue that you probably do but either dismiss them or are not 'sensitive' to them. By the way, this is a different 'sensitive' to your meaning to what you have written above.
Being touchy feely and emotional is not necessarily the formula for being 'sensitive' to these 'signs' rather ...
Where the bright lights shine the stars are denied their navigation.
I'll explain what I mean.
Bright lights - street lights are there to guide us on the streets, but they are useless at telling us about which general direction we are going and they are considered a form of pollution. On the other hand, if these 'bright lights' were stopped, you could see the beautiful ornaments of heaven, the stars will provide a subtler light and yet also navigate the wayfarer. If your eyes are looking at the sky while the street lights are on then seeing those stars is that much more difficult. Science today is a blinding light and the spiritual domain can only be fathomed when you switch that blinding light off.
Just a few days back I was listening to the radio and on it they had someone on who did an experiement. The experiement involved getting a few people to read out some words about how they can offer happiness and goodness to an audience. The readers were either religious people, or atheists and they were looking to see why people put 'faith' in others. They eventually tracked it down to critical analysis.
Many sceptical minds try to assess data as it comes in, the message is lost in translation and as a result they 'reject' the message of the message giver.
They have seen that those people who trust, become convinced and this they do in every walk of life. Even when people go to their doctor they put 'trust' in his words and likewise 'doctors' are taught to endow trust in their patients. This trust is a bigger self-healer (like a placebo) than many medicines. Likewise, the people who get hypnotised easily are such people who have allowed themselves to place trust in the hypnotist. The activity in the brain that critically analyses is non-existent in the people who become convinced.
Now this reminded me of a particular ayat in the Qur'an.
Although we may do the motions, the actions and pray 5 times a day, read Qur'an and memorise many hadith. We have not fully 'submitted' ... Islam comes from 'silm' which means to submit. This submission is in my understanding a direct pointer at this critical, sceptical view being absent. When we submit the 'doors' to our minds and 'hearts' are open and we do not resist the impetus. When this happens we switch off those bright lights and we can start seeing those stars in their full glory.
When you can bring yourself to 'submit' in trust that life is more than we see it to be, then you will see from within. I have recently undergone a very spiritual experience and it did not happen until I 'submitted' - I let go of those shackles.
Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
psyah,
To me ESP is not science. It is more related to spirituality. There is no scientific explanation for it.
ESP is the observation of an unexplainable fact. I mentioned ESP is this thread about true dreams, because I think such dreams are a form of ESP.
I now understand that I shouldn't have mentioned quantum mechanics here. Because the only thing common between the subject matter in this thread and quantum mechanics is 'lack of explanation'.
Intoxicated,
I saw the program, The Elegant Universe. Fun to watch.
But it reminded me yet again how rudimentary my knowledge of physics and mathematics is. The physicists in this program were making very tall claims. But since I don't understand the mathematical equations, so there is no way for me to appreciate their confidence in such claims.

Khoji
I find Ibn Arabi’s explanation regarding dreams very interesting, have a look(specially point#5).Ibn al-'Arabi, Muhyi al-Din (1164-1240)
I don't know why I never get any such feelings. I feel left out. It hurts even more since I thought I was a very sensitive person?!
Don't feel left out Khoji Ji.........
Look up "Pineal Gland",
All of us have this gland in the middle part of the brain;
They say it is the Eye into the Universe,
Our eyes are closed when we sleep, but we roam the the Universe through the Mind's Eye..............
GOOGLE IT......................:)
Re: Dreams can be real! A personal story
I saw a few links about it. It looks like superstitious/ mythological stuff.
