hmmm when was the last time you pray? And did you memorize all the Kalima's? I mean "awal kalima tyeb, doom kalima shahadat.....and so on" ?
Astaghferullah, i am very sorry,i did not mean that at all, some scholars say its right to draw plants & animals...if drawing a human face is haram...because its a form of life, then why isnt drawing plants and animals haram?they are a form of life too.
like you,i took art at GCSE too and i came across exactly the same ahadees as you have mentioned earlier and after that i was...well scared of drawing & sketching people, doing portraits but i did continue it then because of the demands of the course, i wanted to choose art for Alevels, my teacher said i have talent but then i just couldnt because of these ahadees.
Ahadees are very important,we are meant to follow the prophets style of life, even though its become extremely hard today.

Salaam Sister, I understand it can be hard sometimes, but if we give up something for Allah Ta'ala then he will replace it with something much better.
Allah Ta'ala knows best why we are allowed to draw inanimate objects but not animate ones.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Every image-maker will be in the Fire, and every image that he made will
be made to appear to him and will torment him in Hell.” Ibn ‘Abbaas said: “If you must do that, then make trees and things that have no soul.” (Bukhari & Muslim).

Sorry for my lack of understanding on this subject, but were these narrations that are attributed to Muhammed things he was told by God or his own rules? And if they were instructions from, God why aren't they in the Quran?

Muhammad incorporated the Kaba's paganistic roots into Islam to give the Muslims a sense of identity, legitimacy, and uniqueness. He also wanted to ease the Arab's strain of moving from paganism to Islam, by continuing the practices of their fathers.
There were 360 idols around the Kaba. The pilgrimages to the Kaba were all pagan pilgrimages, the ritual processions around the Kaba were part of pagan beliefs and custom, the white robes worn by the pilgrims were from pagan faiths, the veneration of the Kaba and black stone are derived from pagan rituals and beliefs. Pagans called out the names of their pagan gods as they circled the Kaba, today, Muslims call out Allah's name. Pagans ran between the nearby hills, Muhammad authorized Muslims to do that in the Quran, and probably ran between the hills himself.
The chief pagan god worshipped there was Hubal, who could be called the god of Mecca and of the Kaba. Hubal is not mentioned in the Quran. The goddesses al-Lat, al-Uzza, and Manat were also worshipped there and are mentioned in the Quran.
It is thought that the Kaba was originally set up for astral worship. Golden suns and moons are repeatedly mentioned as the votive gifts. Some pagans regarded the Kaba as a temple devoted to the sun, moon, and 5 planets.

The **** your fanatical Hindu pundits feed you. Get your facts straight before you open your trap.
Islam does not have pagan roots and the holy Quran is not the word of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
The Kaaba was built by the Prophets Abraham and Ishmael (peace be upon them) for the worship of the one and only Lord-God Allah. After a few generations the Meccans started going astray and they started making idols and importing them to Mecca from outside and that’s how they became pagans, the reason there are similarities between the pre-Islamic pagan rituals and Islamic rituals is that although the Meccans had gone astray they carried on some of the rituals that the Prophet Ishmael (peace be upon him) had taught them. And the God of Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the God of his forefathers Abraham and Ishmael (peace be upon them). Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not come with a new religion but the same truth that God had revealed to all his Prophets for the guidance of mankind. Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to purify the religion from polytheism and other bull crap people had added to it.

The Quran is Recited Revelation and the Ahadith are Unrecited Revelation.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) never spoke from himself. His actions and sayings were inspired by God.

i am talking about history and origin of religious rituals .
is it wrong to analyse why people circambulate 7 times or kiss the stone?
man the Persians were so successful in hijacking the religion and changing it into this obscure paganistic cult which thrives on chants and slogans, counting units of thawaab… no wonder all famous hadith collections have been authored by Persians.. and no wonder u’d find unnatural ‘rulings’ prohibiting one from art, music and other finer things in life.

I think you are a non Muslim. Well Islamic law is derived from four parts. The first one is the Quran. Quran the book of God contains general rulings and instructions about Islam. Allah didn't reveal it in more detailed form in order to make it preservable. Islam is a religion for the whole mankind till the judgement day. If Allah would have revealed all the things in the Quran he would have revealed 30, lac + chapters instead of 30 chapters of Quran.
Hadith, or the sayings and actions of Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW are the second source of Islamic Law. Quran is the instruction of God. Hadith is the way of practicing that instruction and is it's explanation. There are further types of ahadith. In one kind of ahadith, instructions of the Quran are confirmed or stressed upon. THis means that those rulings are found in quran as well as in haidth as well. The second type of ahadith are about those instructions not mentioned in the Quran.
Hadith is also the revelation of God but it is not in the words of God. The revelation is a kind of inspiration but in Prophet Muhammad SAW 's words. In the Quran Allah says that the life of Muhammad SAW is a role model for the Muslims. So we have to obey the instructions of Prophet Muhammad SAW because he doesn't say by himself.
In hadith sayings of companions of Holy prophet SAW and those scholars who didn't see the Prophet Muhammad SAW but did see and studied from the companions of the Holy Prophet SAW are also included.
Qiyas is the third source of Islamic law in which solution of one problem is found by observing the problem occured in the past with the same nature. Qiyas is used only then when Quran and hadith are silent about a ruling. For example picture making of humans and animals is haram. But at that time there was no television. Because in the television images are shown so seeing the similarity of image same ruling will be applied for TV as it was for picture making. However, if pictures become a necessassity i.e. id cards, passports or studies then one can make pictures but having dislikeness about it in heart. In necessassity haram things can be done to preserve one's life or survival. For instance in the Quran eating ham meat in the times when one can't find any other food and when one is in danger of doing becomes allowed but one doesn't have to transgress i.e. One must only eat little enough just to save one's life. Seeing this ruling of the Quran one can make pictures for id or studying a subject where pictures are necessary to make.
Here are some people who say that Mullahs are jahil and they have imposed unnecessary obligations on us. Well many Maulvis are jahil but this obligations and restrictions are imposed by Allah and his prophet SAW and not by molvis. You must read the full post and read the sayings of Prophet Muhammad SAW before posting such comments because in the flow you may be calling the Prophet jahil (nawozubillah) indirectly.
Here are some non muslims who are not aware of our religion. They must be clear in mind that Islam is incomplete without hadith and other sources from which it's law is derived. All instructions are not written in the Quran. When in a verse or hadith it is stated that such and such thing is not allowed then there is no excuse of justifying one's actions.
As far as TV is concerned we can see on some channels there is recitation of the Quran. My opinion is that a similar example must be followed for other Islamic and knowledge able books. THis way our poor Pakistani people will be able to listen and see books on TV for free. Trees will be saved. Books can be available on cds too. TV will be used for productive things. Instead of banning it change the way it is used. It is a new idea which have come to my mind. It may see strange but you may ponder and give your opinion on it. Also news can be told in audio form on the TV. In the cartoons unreal non human and non existent characters can be made and religous teachings can be taught to the children. What do you think about it.
