quote=elahi]Trust me I am not a bigot, I sincerely beleive that all human beings are the same. But I honestly believe the Indian cricketing public is more jingoistic than the pakistani 1.

More passionate I may agree, my objection was to following statment of Jazba..
"its hard to belive he is an indian, totally opposite to their entire population."
Cheers... and hats off to Dravid...
That's why he ranks above all the Bollywood heroes in Sex Appeal and most desired men in India............ :D
Now, if u r gonna pick some little things that we say bad abt other indians, then you are only taking away from this tribute thread for Dravid.

You take a particular Indian and make comment fine, but somebody says entire population.......
I have objections............ to such remarks.......... and that's on cricket forum..
hmm Ramiz started talking to Inzi in urdu first!! but for some reason Inzi felt the need to respond to him in english, after that ramiz started asking the rest of the questions in english
ya, thats true... inzi probably expected the question in english...
actually ramiz should've been clear in the start; He didn't start the question in Urdu, he made a comment on inzi's smile.. which didn't give him the right hint.
may be next time around, inzi will talk in urdu, which is gonna be gr8... I luved younis and kami talking in urdu..... particularly the roar of the crowd when younis mentioned the support. That is how these interviews should be, so the crowd gets involved.
Rahul Dravid, a thorough gentleman, decent, honest and sensible enough to know what to say and what not to say. My favorite Indian player.
Inzimam, Multan ki chiknee matti, no matter how much water (knowledge) is poured, it simply slides away. Guys like Wasim Akram, Waqar Yunus belong to extremely humble backgrounds, but made it a point to improve their communication skills and with the grace of God these guys are making an earning with these acquired skillsets. Inzimam who belongs to a much better background is a product of the Javed Miandad school of though (Zia ul Haq legacy), likho gey parho gey bunogay kharab, khelo gey kuddo gey bunnogay nawab. It was this new generation which chose not to educate themselves or improve their basic knowledge of other cultures and always maintained that education is not important for professional cricketers. I beg to differ. Problem with Inzi is the peer group captains like Rahul make him look like an idiot when it comes to cameras and interviews, simply becose these guys have a much better level of education and ability to absorb ideas when travelling on tours, unlike Inzi who refuses to budge from his Multani matti.
Ramiz started his interview in Urdu, it was Inzi's ratta hua statement which made him speak in english, now that tells u that the guy is not smart enough to change his tactics when opportunity arises and is too dependent upon his age old methods and there can be no compromise. We have a saying for that "Tight assed buffoon".
Inzi's primary job is to lead the team, score runs and win matches. And he is damn good at it. So if he isn't too photogenic or a darling with the press, I don't mind. I would take him over a clueless but charmingly diplomatic captain any day.
I agree with you, but I would like to add that had Dravid not been an Indian, Inzi would have been my all time favorite player. I know he is clumsy when it comes to giving interviews and presenting himself, but just look a little deeper into him and you'll find a very genuine, lovable and humble person. It's not in his nature to be diplomatic while giving interviews but yeah I cannot control my laughter when I listen to him talking to the interviewers :).
I was really looking forward to this series as a clash between two of the most humble and likable personalities in the cricket world, but as always is the case, there's always an afridi or akhtar to spoil the game.
You guys have too much to think about after the winning...maybe Inzi should lose few games and we won't have to worry about his engrezy cuz than all the threads will be about pitch, batting, bowling, captancy and so on.
Don't mean to take any credit away from Dravid but "thanking crowd"? I think Dravid started to thank crowd after crowd disturbance in one of ODI games when Pakistan visited India? or was it after Ganguly was dropped and added again on 'public pressure'? Yes Dravid is a learning man who not only learns cricket while in field, but also learns whats going on around off-field which Inzi perhaps doesn't pay attention to, but we know it all about Inzi now so can we cut him some slack?
We all know Pakistani players are usually not good in expressing themselves. Inzi is quite good in his lengthy GEO interviews in Urdu (except for the fact that EVERY SINGLE ONE of his replies starts with "Nahin..." :) )
I watched one of Younis Khan's interviews at the end of Day 2, and he seemed refreshingly talkative and knowledgable. He spoke excellent Urdu.... I guess I was expecting him with a Pathan accent.
Wasim Akram used to be pretty good in thanking the opposition, the crowd etc. And I suspect Shoaib Akhtar will be good to if he becomes a captain.

Excellent post, and completely agree!
i didnt understand y inzi started off in english...urdu is ur language...be proud of it...and more over, the players can give better insights in urdu...and its just unjust to embarass them by asking them ques in english when they cant speak it...i mean how wud the aussies feel if they were asked ques in urdu...or afrikaans for that matter after playing brillinatly...
as long wat the captains/players say is insightful...it doesnt matter wat lingo...i mean look at beckham...he talks in english...but his talk is all crap cuz hes a dumb lil shyt...similarly rio ferdinand (although im a man utd fan...wen rio talks its just agghhh how thick is this guy!!)
Maybe they can make Faisal Iqbal their press spokeman, I saw his first ever interview on TV and he spoke english and did very well, unlike most of the newcomers in team Pakistan.
