Writer Chitra Banerjee Divakurni took to her Facebook page claiming that the story from her novel “Sister of My Heart” was allegedly stolen by Pakistani writer Samira Fazal and made into “Mera Naseeb”.
It will be interesting to see if this allegation is found to be true and if so, what happens then?

Re: drama serial ripped off from novel?
Though pirated Indian books are easily found in Pakistan, but I don't think that Ms Chatterji is that popular in Pakistan. Would be interesting to know how Samira Fazal got to know about the book. I perceive a response like Madam Sangeeta, after she was told that her movie Nikah (1999) was a copy of earlier movie Aaina (1980s). She said 'I have never watched Aaina'. Aaina was one of the most successful movies of Pakistani film industry.

I hope Bee Gul got permission of Arundhati Roy before dramatising ' A god of small things'.
I think she has given credit to Arundhati Roy
Re: drama serial ripped off from novel?
Giving credit isn't enough. That's what they did with the plagiarised drama. Everyone knew the story was adapted and quite a few people knew which book it was taken from but author knew zilch. Taking permission isn't just a verbal thing and needs lawyers and contracts working out monetary compensation in the mix.
I hope the production house is hit hard because this casual lifting from other sources is just embarrassing and needs to be eliminated from Pakistan.
A lot of people start talking about Indian plagiarising pakistani stuff but who cares. The production houses, musicians chose not to take legal move when their stuff was stolen so why cry over spilt milk. Hum nay apnay aap ko sudhaarna Hai doosron ko nahin.
