Drained out

Do you ladies feel exhausted, tired and sleepy during that time of the month?

I feel like I have no energy left to even get out of bed, I lose appetite and interest in everything. All I have done in the past 48 hours is scroll up and down GS because I am too exhaused to do anything productive or something that interests me. Emotionally, I feel so drained out, all blah at the world. My sleep schedule is just as messed up. The only good thing is I don’t get any cramps or pain… just all this laziness and lack of interest in life :frowning:

Re: Drained out

How long has this been going on? Does this period..err come only during that time of hte month? Anything different in your eating habits or anything else?

If anything, I hear working out (actual cardio/heart pumping exercise) on a regular basis really helps you feel better during that time of the month. WheN i used to work out regularly, my periods were definitely alot easeir to handle than now.

Re: Drained out

Iron deficiency anemia is a common problem in menstruating women and this leads to changes in period, feeling fatigued and exhausted, and headaches. So, it's good to take a multivitamin which contains iron to help relieve these symptoms.

If they persist....then consult a doctor. A blood test can determine anemia and the doctor will prescribe iron supplements if neccessary.

Also, PMS symptoms are aggravated with a sugary and unhealthy diet. Eating healthy and mild exercise help to ease the symptoms.

Re: Drained out

Sara, it does not happen every month but it’s not rare either :bummer: I do yoga but even that doesn’t help. I am telling ya’ll it’s like I have no energy nor will to do anything in life during these days.

RV- Im not anemic. I am very particular about my diet being healthy and taking multivitamins/supplements.

Re: Drained out

I've heard that a lack of B vitamins can cause depression and moodiness. But you said that you take your vitamins.

The other reason I mentioned iron def anemia is because even a borderline def in iron won't show up in a blood test. But if you know for sure this is not the case....try exercising. Light exercise. That will get the endorphins going and uplift your mood...and lead to better sleep at night.

(wheres the hubby?)

other than that, its pretty normal for me to be like that too during that time.

Re: Drained out

Shay, it's the dip in iron levels that causes the lethargy! Add pomegranate juice and apple juice.. and take a tablespoon of honey too.

Re: Drained out

YES maam. I feel like a zombie, and all I do is sleep and whine.

Re: Drained out

ahh i hate that time of the month!!! i get every possible symthom possible. Each month it rotates. Sometimes im too lazy, other months i get really bad headaches if not, then my stomach or back hurt...Its sucks. I was prescribed a really high dosage of medication from my obgyn. But, since my mom didnt want me to get hooked on them I only take them when i was littlerly dying ! :(
