I think that’s a ridiculous notion.
I think restricting how we get Ilm/Enlightenment/Education/Guidance is one of the reasons Muslims and religions in general are suffering and there is no consensus on religious matters amongst Muslims (Let’s take Islam because its the majority religion in Pakistan and on GS). We give these people lofty praise and position and they are no where near in touch with everyday life and the needs of the times we live in. What we need is people who can stir emotions and teach us things no matter where they/we are. Conditions applied to the place and behaviour of where and how we learn about our religion are nothing short of encouraging blind faith by granting such people a holier than thou status.
