DR Congo rebels free aid workers

**Eight international Red Cross workers held hostage in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo last week have been freed unharmed, the organisation says.**ICRC spokesman Inah Kaloga told the Reuters news agency that they had been released unconditionally by the Mai-Mai militia group in South Kivu province.

The seven Congolese and one Swiss were kidnapped last Friday as they returned from a trip to help displaced people.

A Mai-Mai leader has said their seizure “arose from a misunderstanding”.
