So how many of you guys had that romantic proposal from your to-be husbands? Who has a really different and creative way they were proposed to? It doesn’t have to be different or creative actually…even something you remember and loved!

the husband didn’t get down on one knee but he did arrange a fancy dinner for the two of us, and proposed after dessert. it was sweet.

Erm..we all met, never met in our life before. Walked around town, with half the khandaan behind us and he casually asked 'so what do you think about getting married"? BTW, this was an arranged meeting between our families.

Hate the getting down on one knee thing. Especially cheesy seeing it on wedding videos. It is the reception after all, so why is the groom bending down on one knee and popping the ring on the finger? You're married, or nikahfied..does not make sense.

because its about how it makes one** feel**. And that's why it's special to some girls it's their idea of love/romance & usually if its an arranged setting then by that point they do like/love each other so him re-proposing is kinda cute. , nothing to do with it being logically "incorrect".

Awww...these are so sweet! And about the bended knee...well I guess all of our ideas on romance will be different. Some women swoon over flowers and others find them useless since they wilt after a few days. The bended knee thing is so cute but I do understand why some people might find it over the top. I'd still like it though...over the top works for me :)

we had totally arranged marriage, meet each other after our nikah. I think this bending on knee is not popular in our desi culture

No its really not, and no one gets it either. No one in my family understands why I don't have a ring yet... and that's because I want a proper proposal (not necessarily bended knee)... Something I'll remember. It's a love marriage so whenever he decides to propose I'll get that ring.

I dont remember him proposing to me....may be coz it was arranged. We didn't even have an official engagement...he just bought me a ring and even then I was so pissed....I didn't want any shor sharaba on my wedding.

my hubby got down on one knee in front of everyone at our engagement it was soo cute and funny...cracked everyone up... he was soo nervous so he swung down on one knee front of me really quickly out of nowhere .....it was so memorable and cute...he was so nervous even when i put his ring on he was still shaking....takes a bit more guts to do it in front of everyone(small family engagement tho)

on the wedding,he kissed my hand after putting the band on....ended up doing it twice cuz everone made him do it again for pics lol

I actually would have liked a bended knee proposal. We had a love marriage, but he never technically proposed to me. One day we were talking on the phone and had been discussing marriage, and he said "so, should we get married?" and that was basically the extent of my proposal. After that, everything went through our parents. I still tease/taunt him about his "proposal" to this day.

We were in a long distance, so when he was visiting that one time, I sorta knew he'd propose. And I always thought he'd just give me the ring normally because he isn't really the romantic kind. But he completely surprised me by renting a small private yacht and proposing on it in the middle of the lake. The gesture itself was amazing but what made it more special was just knowing how much thought he put into it because like I said...he isn't so much the romantic kind.
