'Double dealing': How Pakistan hid Osama Bin Laden and fueled the war in Afghanistan

Re: ‘Double dealing’: How Pakistan hid Osama Bin Laden and fueled the war in Afghanis

An year or so ago, no one literally thought that an ex army chief in self imposed exile will face civilian court in Pakistan. It was an unthinkable thought, it was considered a confirmed impossibility. But what a mighty surprise we have today - an ex army chief’s trial is happening right in front of our eyes. So there is this change in attitude and priority in army. A massive and a much needed breakthrough for Pakistan. I don’t know what the final outcome of Musharraf trial will be, I have no expectations, but I do know that history has already been made.

As with generals feeling hurt and insulted over some petty political remarks by lousy politicians - well, without really saying much, and offending any over-sensitive ears here, I think its quite accurate to say that over the years Pakistan army has become a state within a sate, accountable to none. The country can go to hell as long as there is win-win situation for the army.

Let’s just end the day with bit of an infamous cliché saying that goes something like most countries have armies, but Pakistan army has entire country.

However, having said all the above, I sincerely believe in Pakistan army, and I am stubbornly hopeful that they are, and they will revise and rectify all their strategic blunders and get the country out of this current bloody mess.
