That is chaii, not doodhpatti....
What's the difference between chai and doodhpatti??
Prolly PP sister thinks it's tea because of the boiling water drops over the top. I had left milk/patti/sugar to cook on very low heat before going for maghrib & had some qaza to read for the day before. When I finished, went back to kitchen to see that the it was over cooked, making the texture thick for my liking & naturally sweeter than I desired at that time. So added few drops of water to thin the texture / balance sweet. It wasnoiking when that pic was taken. Probably that's why appears to be like chai.
That means all these years I’ve been making doodhpatti instead of chai for dad ![]()
No you are wrong...... My defination of doodpatti is the correct one... We can open a poll on this if you want! :D
Pee-Pee behna,
How you or anyone else makes doodhpatti (white or black) in your homes is not effecting my health at all. I learned this recipe from a very old age couple who was fond of doodhpatti. I like the color, taste & texture of how I make it. You can make it whichever way you like. There are bigger worries in the world than the color of doodhpatti trust me. Such as :icono:![]()

A lot of East Europeans are fond of desi chai here in the UK!
The big difference between UK tea and our tea is: here they make tea and in Pakistan we actually cook tea! The Quetta Pusthoon tea stalls in Karachi cook it all the day in their big pots and their tea is extremely popular in Karachi.
Almost everywhere

I think the concept of “Doodhpatti” is different in Karachi as compared to Punjab. PP is right when he says that its more doodth less patti as the name goes cuz thats how it is in Punjab.
Whereas in Karachi doodh-patti is the same as defined by FoY. So she is right as well. Now remember this version of doodh-patti is brought in karachi mainly by Pathans from Quetta and onwards and its loved and welcomed by everyone so much and now what used to be only a small khabba or chai hotel, is now turning into a lavish entertainment as people are opening these chai refreshments in big empty plots and not only young guys/girls but families go there and enjoy it. Its just adding up the culture to another great extent.
@LP you had a thread about what you like about Pakistan. Add this one to the list ![]()
Pee-Pee sis, why don't you share an image of doodhpatti made by yourself? Let's see how much you score :p
Adding condensed milk to tea in Pakistan a new thing! People were fond of adding a layer of thick balai (thick layer of cream from boiled non-homogeneous non pasteurised milk) in Pakistan!
I have seen West Indian people adding condensed milk to their tea here in the UK - theirs and ours heating habits resemble a lot!
No we weren’t living in Pakistan those days Mostar. Fresh milk was available from a farm far away from our house which my father used to bring early morning every weekend. It used to be so stinky that we siblings used to get beatings from mother. That’s how she used to complete her mission of making us finish our mugs. Later she started adding tea to it in order to rid that bad smell hoping we’ll start drinking without the hassle of completing that daily mission ![]()
It took time but worked. That was our introduction to drinking tea not knowing how addictive it would later prove to be. But still it was not possible to make nice tea with that fresh or the boxed processed milk. And the condensed milk we used was especially made to make teas and desserts.
GS awaits images of doodhpatti made by @Pakistani_Prince. So com on com on Pakistani prince com on.
I made chai the other day because I wanted the teabag. .. Chai was terrible ![]()
@FigmentOfYour are you talking about bony evaporated milk? I normally have it at home 'cuz some of my guests only drink tea with bony
I'll see if I find it here.
Carnation/Bonny/Luna…All are evaporated unsweetened condensed canned milk…
Just different brands/trade marks for different areas…
using “condensed milk” for tea everyday can be bad for your health @LP
