Where from this concept of ‘Doodh Bakhshana’ came?
Does that have any religious importance or its just a ‘cultural blackmailing’ that prevails in our society?

Re: Doodh nahin bakhsoon gi
Don't have any idea of this cultural thing, is it specific to Islam?
Re: Doodh nahin bakhsoon gi
your post suggests that its only among Muslims. Its a blackmailing tool like 'iss laRki se shadi ki to doodh nahin bakhoon gi'.
Re: Doodh nahin bakhsoon gi
I asked question if it was specific to Islam, regarding the question, I never heard such thing :)

Maan ka haq to ussay godi main lai kar Hajj bhi karwa do to poora nahi hota hia... to doodh bakhsna ya na bhakshan matter nahi karta hia.... koi ahmiat nahi hai iss jumly ki....
Re: Doodh nahin bakhsoon gi
I don't know but may be there would be some other thing (instead of doodh) that would have been used as an emotional blackmailing tool in other communities of sub-continent.

But why this 'doodh bakhshna' got prominence, when mother did a lot of things for children, which are beyond any compensation. Why this came from mothers and not from fathers (for things they do for their children)? Are ladies more into jatana business than men?

emotional blackmailing by mother to her son?

Re: Doodh nahin bakhsoon gi

Re: Doodh nahin bakhsoon gi

In Islam, mother has got a grand status and there are a lot of teachings regarding obeying your parents. so it is possible someone derived this notion from these ethics.
Re: Doodh nahin bakhsoon gi
nothin g to do with Islam. it's just a cultural thingy. the Ionly Qur'aanic injunction is to treat your parents with love and respect and to serve them, especially when they reach the old age.

lol...no! Allah has mentioned old age because they then need to be taken care of physically. in their jawani, they don't need to be physically taken care unless they have some incapacitating/debilitating health issues.
as far as love and respect and obeying is considered you are stuck with it for life.
