Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Heard he has spoken with Rehman Malik and also with Nawaz Sharif.

I do not second this idea of talking with the politician at this stage, what do you guys think about it???

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Pakistan has simple democratic system. 4 yrs of PP Four yrs for Muslim league and 6-12 yrs to Army. I wud attend Nawaz Shareefs calls as captain coz its his turn to become next Priminister or President.

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Lekin, at this time when the team needs confidence, these politicians are creating un-necessary pressure on players

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Well no one will disagree with above.

On the Bright side, they probably called and wished good to the team, Saying doesnt matter if you win or lose coz You have accomplished alot by Qualifying to Semi's. Just play Your natural Game and Put 110 % :)

I hope that’s only what they have said :hehe:

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Im not sure about what are the details of conversation with Nawaz Sharif, but Rehman Malik's conversation has now created a new hype in the media against Pakistan, where he mentioned that Im keeping a strict eye on players and have deputed Agencies official to keep an eye on players in India ...

Rehman Malik warns Pak cricketers not to indulge in match-fixing
Islamabad, Mar 28 (PTI)

**Ahead of their crucial World Cup semi-final against India, Pakitani cricketers have been warned not to indulge in any match-fixing by Interior Minister Rehman Malik who said he was keeping a ‘‘close watch’’ on their activities.
**
"I gave a warning that there should be no match-fixing. I am keeping a close watch. If any such thing happens, we are going to take action," Malik said two days ahead of the game in Mohali that will showcase one of the world’s most intense sporting rivalries.

Malik said that though he was “sure the team has very clean members”, intelligence is being gathered on the Pakistani cricketers, including “who are meeting them and the position of their telephones”.

“This is necessary because we can’t take a chance after what happened in London,” he said, in a reference to a recent match-fixing controversy in Britain involving three Pakistani players.

Malik, who made the remarks during an interaction with the media in the port city of Karachi, also had some advice for the Pakistani players.

“Do your practise, sleep early at night and wake at the proper time. They should dedicate themselves to Pakistan for the match,” he said.

There is a lot of excitement about the India-Pakistan clash in the World Cup semi-final, he said.

“There is a lot of love for the cricketers and we hope they will win the game for us. We expect they will not disappoint the people,” he said.

Malik also welcomed his Indian counterpart P Chidambaram’s remarks about adequate security being provided to the Pakistani team while in India in light of possible threats to the players.

He noted that Chidambaram had said special arrangements would be made for the game in Mohali, including the deploying of some 1,000 commandoes.

“I am sure of his (Chidambaram’s) capability. He is a man of wisdom and authority and has the capability to handle things well,” Malik said. http://www.deccanherald.com/content/…ricketers.html

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

I think...Afridi cannot avoid the PM's call...but the rests he can put aside with the exception of Imran Khan...because he himself being a great cricketer...

PS: Who gave the Afridi's phone number to all those failed politicians who are now trying to use Afridi's card to score some points...lol

PS1: Dhoni didn't get any call from the politicians except the bookies...lol

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

He should only attend Altaf Bhai's call but there is a problem in that too. Jitnee dair main altaf bhai ki Naseehateen kharam hooon gi, half match bhi kharam ho jayee ga

Re: Dont’ you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

This is again a curse of the VVIP culture which is prevalent in every walk of life in Pakistan. Only PM or President should have spoken with Afridi as a matter of courtesy…and Gilani has done that
http://www.dawn.com/2011/03/28/gilani-calls-afridi-ahead-of-pak-india-wc-clash.html

There is no need for NS or Rehman Malik to butt in unnecessarily and put extra pressure on Afridi and the team.

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Correction:
Afridi himself called Imran Khan to discuss dew factor among other things before the team left Mirpur (after QF against Windies) for Mohali

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

Imran Khan's interview with Hameed Mir suggests otherwise...hmmmmm

Re: Dont' you think Afridi should avoid attending Policitican Calls ?

AA I read it on GEO or Dawn website. Imran may have also called Afridi later but it was on the news that Afridi had called Immi just before the team left Dhaka. Imran also advised him to avoid the indian media.
