Don't you feel uncomfortable as heck or out of place?

Agree with Q and Sabah, relax and have fun. Don't judge others, what for? Not everyone likes to dress simply with no make-up, especially on Eid day.

Its about personality and character, no matter how dressed up a woman might be.If shes warm and friendly, it doesnt matter that shes over-dressed etc.If shes not friendly at all- people tend to have negative feelings towards her.

my eid has never been abt dressing up..im not too fond of eid..brings back awful memories...its occasions like these that make me wish i had a job so i didnt have to join in with the "celebrations" as id be to busy at work!!

Tsk tsk..

Dont you women ACTUALLY READ what sarah is saying ? She's speaking of overly dressed up / made up women in mixed gatherings.
In Islam dressing up to attract the opposite sex is A BIG NO NO. If the gathering is purely a female one then by all means dress in miniskirts and tube tops, but please, if you are going to a mixed gathering try not to deck up in 6 tons of makeup and clothes that not only reveal your figure but also serve the sole purpose of caching the opposite sex's eye.

This is not just limited to Eid, in all mixed gatherings nowadays the trend is to dress up as much as possible, leaving little to the guys imaginations.

ITs the guys fault for looking, its the girls fault for dressing up so much. So no im not saying the guys are not at fault either.

black make-up……wish i could wear it

You can come live in our town Sarah. The colors on any occasion are black, blue, and brown! If I wear any other color, I look totally out of place :( Nobody even bothers to dress up on Eid here. Every year my eid outfits go un-used. I recently went to an engagement party - all girl event and I wore a marroon-ish outfit and my friends and I were the only people with colorful clothes. Eid is one day I do like to dress up but can't :(

So girl are you sayin half of those chickz i was checkin out last mella were fake :smack2: :konfused:

well you do have a point …I luv a girl who does moderate makeup…by that just to highlight her features and not to look like a face painting.

okies… listen up

not all girls wear make up or dress up to flaunt their fake beauty infront of guys :flower2:

some of us just like to get dressed up for our own sake.. so that we may feel as though it IS a special day.. and yes wearing 6 tonnes of make up, bright orange suits, and big gold sandals, fake eyelashes and coloured contacts.. are our idea of Eid

geez.. give it a break..

if u dont want to wear make up and get dressed up.. good for u

and for those who do.. and do it for their own sake.. then Eid mubarik to u guys

sheesh

Diva, could you please define the spiritual stuff about eid, it's for my knowledge, I'm not disagreeing, yet at least :)

As for modesty, we all have different ideas of how a modest person should look like.

On a more general note, you can only enjoy these fashion shows for so long, eid should not be made into some depressing event. Girls who have to think about 'a man's lust' before putting on cloths everyday, must get tired, no? Constantly following or being aware of what some stranger male is thinking of you and your make up? Sounds like you only have one thing in your mind 24/7, which kind of beats the purpose of not dressing up.

Maybe we're focusing a bit too much on the opposite sex's reaction, they should know how to respect a woman no matter how 'attractively' she's dressed. This lesson should be taught from home.

OMG Sara! your hilarious! :hehe:  make sure you have non-matching headgear

me sara? or the author of the post SaraH ??
