‘Now’s the time’: 70-year-old virgin Pam Shaw says the single life has kept her young
A 70-year-old virgin said yesterday she is finally ready to have sex.Pam Shaw was always too busy with her cabaret singing career to find herself a man.
And, as she is against sex before marriage, a casual fling was out of the question.
It’s all a world away from her onstage person as The Sexational Pam, with her daring outfits having turned many a head during her years on Britain’s club circuit.
But, as she told the Sun, she’s not looking for just any old man.
She said:'Now’s the time. I’m ready to take the plunge for the right bloke.'My standards are still very high, though. I’m hoping to bag a tall, dark and handsome millionaire.
‘I feel I am ready to give marriage a go and maybe go to bed with a man. You are never too old for anything. Just look at Joan Collins.’
She said she still has bundles of energy and suspects it is the single life that has kept her young.
Pam lived with her mother Lilian in Wigan, Greater Manchester, until she died aged 97 in 1995.
Her big break came in the 1960s when she won TV talent show Opportunity Knocks.
Since then she has warmed up the crowds for the likes of comedian Ken Dodd and singer Englebert Humperdinck, performed in Las Vegas and even spent a week sharing a dressing room with The Voice judge and 70s sex symbol Tom Jones, now 71.

She said she had no problems attracting the opposite sex in her youth, but never indulged in anything more than the odd kiss. And as for her saucy image, she insisted it was simply an act - despite what men in the audience might think.
‘There has never been time for me to get a man,’ she explained.

She admitted she took a shine to Sir Tom when the pair worked together in the 60s - their dressing rooms at Bolton Casino separated by just a curtain - but nothing ever came of their pre-show chats.

And she once had to contend with a flirtatious Englebert Humperdinck when they shared a lodging house in Leeds - though under the watchful eye of her mother as chaperone, that never posed a problem.
Pam, whose screen credits include Shameless, Ant and Dec’s Alien Autopsy and a number of TV adverts, said that in 1976 she accepted a marriage proposal from an oil rig worker in Blackpool. But she soon dumped him when she realised she wasn’t attracted to him.
She said: ‘The only man I thought I could go to bed with was a guy who came to watch me every night when I sang in Malta. But I wasn’t prepared to settle down — so it wasn’t to be.’
