Don't look to govt for jobs - Fawad Ch

[Actually, this is rather sensible. But, then why BS about providing 10m jobs before the elections.

Backtracking from a key promise of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) manifesto, Minister For Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday asked the public not to look towards the government for jobs.

Addressing the second Deans International Conference of Engineering Institutions in Islamabad, the minister said that the government could not provide jobs to the public. “Instead, I want to tell you that the government is going to disband 400 departments,” he added.

Chaudhry further said: "In Pakistan or elsewhere in the world, governments are shrinking.

"It is very imperative to get people to realise that the government cannot provide jobs. If we start looking towards the government for jobs then the framework of our economy will collapse.

“It was the mentality of the 1970s that governments would provide jobs — now the private sector provides jobs.”

However, minutes after he delivered the remarks, Chaudhry took to Twitter to say that his statement had been taken out of context.

“* astonished how every statement issued by me is made a headline without context.”

He added: “I said that the private sector and not the government provides jobs. The government has to create an environment where jobs are available. It shouldn’t be the case that everyone is looking for a government job.”

The PTI had said in its manifesto that it “will create 10 million jobs over five years in key sectors: SME, housing, ICT, health, education, green economy and tourism”.

Chaudhry himself had said in January that 10 million new jobs would soon be created for the youth while 500,000 houses would be constructed for the poor as promised by the PTI government.

Earlier this year, Minister for Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar had said that the government would create 10m jobs in five years and enhance the sustainability of economic growth by building fundamentals and through structural reforms. “Ours is a reformist government,” he had said.*

Fawad Chaudhry, Amir Liaqauat, Sheikh Rasheed, Firdous Ashiq Awan ..and many many others are the trolls that hopped in the PTI ship for the sole purpose of self-benefit. They are clueless, nonskilled and highly incompetent people. Now PTI put Amir Liaquat at his right place of trolling the opponents only. But its highly unfortunate that due to the pressure of “unseen” forces they have to give ministries to the other ones.

To me these should never be taken serious. They have no credibility and should be treated the same way.

Was it promised that PTI would provide 10 million government jobs ala ZPP?

I don’t consider it a u-turn compared to actual u-turns that have happened like going to IMF or dragging feet on local govt system. Now that is another issue on being shaikh chilli that 10 million jobs would come out of PTI’s ass when the second couple of years would be hard on Pakistan as the country lowers its imports and puts brakes on loan ridden CPEC projects (secret to high grown in Nawaz era).

Globally, things are very shaky and there is talk of a recession coming next year. Pakistan is not resilient enough to keep growing despite a global recession as that requires one to be self sustained and strong.

This could’ve been worded better by FC

PTI seriously needs to consider a proper spokesperson…heck I thought fawad c was removed from that role!!

Not sure what was wrong n what Fawad said, regardless of how I feel about him otherwise. He was targeting the business community to stop swallowing profits, and start spending them on more jobs. Thats where it would come from. Govts provide jobs in countries like Brunei, Middle east etc, where you have nothign but natural resources
