Money corrupts. Ever since I realised that I dropped my wishes for great wealth and now merely want what I would consider to be a comfortable life....

n how wud you define CONFORTABLE LYFE ... i presume not every one measures comfort in same level .. no ?

Comfort and wealth are different to different people. I’m sure that there are people in the world (mainly in developing countries) who would label me as wealthy.
Others in the developing world would say that I’m already comfortable.
My idea of comfort is a 4 bedroom detached house, with a German executive car in the garage and a smaller compact car on the driveway, 2-3 kids in education at a private school, and being able to provide comforts such as modern household electronics, comfortable furnishing, and stylish clothing.
What I no longer want is a mansion with swimming pools and tennis lawns and huge grounds with Rolls Royce, Mecedeses and Ferraris in the garage.
I’ve met people who’ve achieved that and people from families like that and I don’t like the effect money has had on them.

having too much monet creates problems but having too little money also creates problems. you always have to worry about paying bills and having enough money to buy other necesary items.

I don’t ever want to have to worry about how to pay the bills. Private school for hte kids coz no way are they going to New York City public schools (yes, New York city coz i can’t live anywhere else 
) Vacations to Pakistan every few years. Nice kapray. And a swimming pool

The way I look at it is if you have problems before you have money, you'll have them after you have money. Money can't cause them, it is just an object.

money comes and it goes, we just have to learn to be satisfied with what we have
no point in dedicating your life for the sole purpose of making money, because no amount of money is ever enough
that's not to say one shouldn't be ambitious, but within reason ofcourse

Why would I? I started with nothing and worked my butt off til I have something. I got problems but nothing caused by an object. If I lost my money, I'm not helpless, even in another country, I know how to work.
So, it goes back to - I got no problems with my money
Add to that - Why should I have problems with what my husband and I earned?

Btw, while on the topic of vacations, I am allergic to spiders that run around in such places. Have you had the misfortune of coming across a nasty one?

He wouldn't have a say in that, is there a reason why he would think he would think himself able to tell me what to do with money I have? Now, if we were married, that's a different story. Why give up security before you have a net below you?

Spiders on two or eight legs, aND I think both types are creepy....I am sure there must be some cute goodlooking spiders out there whose feelings I have no intention of hurting, but I like to stay away from spiders none-the-less.
Anyway, enough about spiders, I think the author of the thread wouldn't like for us to be derailing from the topic.
