Don't call it Antaakshari !!

Naah Andhra I’m sure I’ve heard a word for train in hindi, and its for sure not train.
Btw. Antakshiri is indian ‘game’ that’s why we use this term. Bait Bazi is pop. in Pak and since antakshiri is quite ‘young’ this idea must have been stolen from Bait Bazi tsk tsk apni cultural game banao na <<

HINDI!! Yeah there are some nuts in North India who want all Indians to speak and know Hindi, what they call “Rashtra Bhasha”.
No doubt they want the rest of us to learn it and take the glorious career oppurtunities waiting in Bihar!!
They come up with nutty ideas like Hindi Stations.
If you talk to any of them they are sure to call a sation “Istation”. don’t worry.
BTW Antyakshari is played in India since I was a kid, so your Bait Bazi or Pav Bhaji or whatever must be the copy cat

Since there are no copyrights between Desis you are welcome to Bait Bazi

Have Fun

Get hold of any copy of StarDust. It is a standard way of lampooning North Indians, like ‘Ayyo’ for south Indians.
Another North Indian thing is ‘Ek Shunya Shunya Shunya Shunya Ek’ they say in doordarshan (for 100001 ZIP code). We can never stop laughing about it.Why can’t they say that in English? It sounds so contrived.

Salaam,
Since no one has brought it up yet. We used to play the same game thatz called "antaakshari" now. It was called Bayt-Bazi (sp). So it's just overwhelming cultural influence, otherwise there is a word for it.
p.s. Who cares it's a lame games anyways.

Now do me a favour and stop using that Bayt-Bazi or Pav Bhazi or whatever. Antaakshari is a good Sanskrit word

Well Sanam give me the various Caste names as well their occupations in Pakistan!!.Don’t be so complacent about Caste though. It is a very insidious system.

As for Indians needing English to communicate it is natural. Also are you sure all Pakistanis knowing one language is not a myth? How about Sindhis,Balochis,Afghans etc., do they speak Punjabi?
Also India is not so culturally disjointed as it looks. More about that later.

Andhra: i guess u'll never know the difference between "z" and "g".

Jarasa Bhool Gaya!!

Andhra,
There are a lot of words North Indians may pronounce wrongly, but your examples are not among them. “IShtyle” is often said on purpose just in the manner of yes, “ishtyle”.

By the way, could you please tell me what makes it so difficult for South Indians to pronounce “H” correctly. Why is “H” always “Hatch” in South India…
Ask a South Indian to spell the word “MINIMUM” and he will go…
YUM EYE YUN EYE YUM YOU YUM..
I have seen Americans at the workplace who dont have much trouble understanding English spoken with a North Indian accent but find it extremely difficult to understand a South Indian…

And I am amazed that a South Indian like you would even pick up this subject because I always believed English pronunciations is a South Indian’s vulnerable spot.

Not mine, apparently. I met North Indians from many states. Friendly and they prefer to speak Hindi as much as they can.
I didn’t know South Indians fail the ‘MINIMUM’ tast when it comes to pronounciation

I guess the North Indians you see here are convent types where as most South Indians are not.
On a related topic what do you think of South Indians written English?
Anyway I am kinda uncomfortable with talking about North-SOuth Indian stuff too much because I can rightfully claim to be both.

While on the subject of written English…
its not “pronounciation” buddy, its actually “pronunciation”.. note the missing second “o”.
More seriously.. yes, I do believe that on an average more South Indians speak grammatically correct (and somewhat more fluent) English than North Indians . However South Indians tend to bring in lot of their own Tamil/Telugu “line-fillers” and exclamations into their spoken English, if you understand what I mean.I could give you a lot of examples by way of speaking.. too bad its not possible to demonstrate the same in writing…
Finally, I do admire South Indians who speak English in a manner that doesn’t give their South-Indian identity away… because I know how difficult that is for them to achieve…

Yaar who is complaining about line fillers!!!

Thanks for the back handed wallop.
