Hey guys,
It’s my cousins wedding in the summer here in the UK and we were thinking of holding her dholkis and the mehndi in a big asian/moroccan style marquee outside somewhere (praying it stays warm in the summer, you know what british weather is like). Has anyone ever done this before in the UK? especially in regards to the mehndi? I know people do it in pakistan and stuff and it’s the trend there (one of the things I like most about pakistan). If so what websites or whom did you ask or hire in the UK for this?
My cousin is really into bollywood and wants all that jazz at her wedding functions. Plus we decided to do something different to the generic standard halls people tend to hire.
Re: Done before?
We did dholkis in my garden for my sister's wedding, hired a marquee (it was quite a decent size) and decorated it ourslves, was really really fun! I know a lot of people who have done this as well. You could look around and see what marquees are available, there are plenty of professional wedding venues which do functions in marquees. It depends on how many people you need it to hold, but definitely shop around.
There's always a nice atmosphere when doing it in the summer in a marquee too
Re: Done before?
my sister mendhi was in a garden marquee and my engagement party was a house function. every guest had one thing to say for both functins : house/home function are the best , espc for mendhi !
do it! hire a marquee if your garden is big enough. or alternatively hire a garden for function. decorate it with cushions dolkis..comfortable carpet and flat matresses for sitting. you will see how each and every guest will get involced in the party!
i totatally recommend it :)
