We desis know how we feel about the upcoming election but how does the general public in the USA feel?
I was reading a thread on a yahoo messageboard and I couldn’t resist posting it here.
I Have Never Donated to A Political party or candidate but this year I am going to give until it literally hurts to the Kerry campaign in order to help get the reckless, uncaring, arrogant Bush out of office. This country is WAY too great to be run by this moron anymore.
Another guy wrote:
I am doing the same, in my 57 years on this earth I have never donated to politicians, but I am so upset with this lying corrupt administration I have given Kerry and the DNC $100 a month and will continue to so until the election is over. I want my America back!
I wonder if any desi community or individuals ever donate money to political parties. They probably never before felt the need to do so.
Asif, i think you are jumping the gun a little bit. Are you sure that all Desis want John Kerry/Democrats to win upcoming election? I am here to tell you that I am an exception, I sure dont want any liberal running the white house. Have you looked at Kerry's record(voting) in senate and then listen to him trying to say all the right things now to win the votes? makes you wonder who is the lier. Kerry cannot make up his mind about if he is for Iraq war or against it. His answer might be different depending on the day of the week.
In my opinion liberals are just blodd sucking leeches. They talk a good game of helping the minorities and providing equal opportunities for every one, but do they really? You have to examine their record on that as well. One prime example is handing out money (Welfare), forcing Bush to provide tax cuts to people who do not apy taxes. Yes you read it right, that is what they wanted Bush to do. People who do not pay taxes should be given some money back...I ask why? Liberals believe that big govt can solve all the problems of the society, it just does not work that way. People have to accept responsibility of their actions, future and work hard to achieve their goals. Believe it or not it woks, hard work, dedication always pays.

Kaleem, what is the size of the government under the GOP? Are there less departments now than under Clinton? The single largest agency is DHHS (almost half the feds) and it almost doubled in size under Bush. So the smaller government is just one more lie by the right wing insecure schmucks. Bush has his brains up his arse.
anyone who thinks America would be any different if they voted Democrat or Republican deserves to have their money taken away from them.. .yeah.. give more to political parties. that's such a good use for your hard earned money.
Madhanee, overall GOP/rebuplicans are for less Govt. Yes, Bush has increased the size of the govt. Its the need of times. Department of Homeland Security was created to combat terrorism both here and abroad. He had to increase the number of personnel so the department can do what it is supposed to do. This is what leaders do, Do the right thing.
John Kerry is a moron who cannot decide if he would have sent flowers to Saddam or nukes, worst of all he is endorsed by Spains's new Govt and Frechies.
I have met Kerry, and he is about as interesting as watching paint dry.
If you watch carefully you can barely see Ted Kennedys' lips move when Kerry speaks.
Far better than supporting a presidential candidate would be to have a mixed house and Senate, that is one Democrat, and one Republican. Gridlock is good. May be better to concentrate on local and state congressional races than sending your money to the Democratic National Committee. Find a good local candidate that you can support, and question his policies in detail.
He is going be at least better than Bush. GWB?...the reluctant flier, mixer of Daiquiris, sunshine patriot, and relier on family connections to ease his lot in life. Not a single accomplishment in his entire life that he can call his own. Not one.
...but the simple fact remains that Bush lied.
He made statements that he knew were false regarding Iraq. You cannot "spin" the truth; you cannot wish it away. Not even bashing Clinton will make it any less true.
Kerry may not be the best alternative around but I am still voting for him. Choosing lesser of an evil sometimes is your only option.

John Kerry said that he was not involved in killing of innocent civilians in Vietnam. He testified in Senate to that affect. Do you know that if he did not there were other people who were ready to testify the same thing, only implicating Mr. Kerry as well. So you want someone who was directly involved in killing civilians.
P.S. Show me one politician that does not lie and I will show you heaven.:D

What little I know of Nam are some stories I heard from a couple of uncles that were there from 1967- 1970 or so.
One of my stories are of my uncle carrying the remains of his friend home. This friend was unfortunate and stepped on a landmine.

good point.... though over the past year, I have put about 40 USD into the Communist Party USA -- 20 for my yearly fee, the rest on various propaganda -- a hammer and sickle pin, old soviet union flag (from a different member), etc.
and btw, I know the irony of it all, that I'm communist, but engage in free trade -- don't bother pointing it out, I have justified it for myself.
