Look, I didnt want to say this earlier but some of your thoughts around child labor I can reconcile. I mean children who don;t work are unproductive. <----think about it.

Re: Domestic violance: Isn’t it a time to find out the reasons and solutions.
Education? Iam not so sure whether thats the solution. Take Saima’s case for example. She was a Pathan girl belonging to a respectable family of Peshawar (Father was President of Business council & Mom a Doctor). Poor girl came to the conclusion she wanted a divorce from her husband and marry a guy she liked. If you ppl remember, she was shot and killed by the driver of her Mom who bought him along to Hina Jilani’s (human rights lawyer) office. Case was never trried cause who was there to press charges, nobody. Similar cases are abundant in Pakistan and other civilized countries where educated males resort to violence (OJ Simpson ppl).
Violence against women is all pervasive through societies and historical times. Take the scriptures for example, our Ahle Kithaab believe that women suffer from their monthly periods as a pentinence for her sins (running Adam out of heaven). Women got rights to vote in western society only in the nineteenth century, that too after a struggle. Effective independence is still some ways to go. Why were widows burnt with their dead husbands (sati) in Hindu culture/religion? Why do the Japanese still pride in their Geisha girls? Why do women folk bear children, cook meals, take care of the house, work in fields and yet are supposed to be willing partners when their hubbies wish to enforce their conjugal rights? Why do women in the West get paid less working on the same job?
It is a simple case of MALE DOMINATION/PATRIACHAL SOCIETY/MISOGYNISTIC ATTITUDES which are not going to go away with education, only. Societies have to reform through dialogue, education of their basic rights and State protecting the weaker segments (women, children, poor, minorities) through rigorous pursuite of social justice and application of severe penalties on its violaters.
Iam afraid there is no simple answer to this timeless problem…![]()
