Domain Transfer

I have few domains at Network Solutions which I want to transfer to somewhere else. The primary reason being that NS is charging a lot more than others. Otherwise, NS is more reliable and reputable than anyone else out there.

What are some other good & reputable domain registrars? Reliability is my #1 concern followed by price, domain management tools, and customer service. I have a few domains at RegisterFly but they are no longer what they used to be and their customer service has gone down tremendously. I will transfer my domains from there eventually too. I’m considering GoDaddy or NameCheap.

Also, will there be any downtime when the transfer takes place? I have my domains on NS DNS servers. Will the new registrar automatically map the IPs on their DNS?

Re: Domain Transfer

RegistryFly is the worst registrar i have ever dealt with... They used to be very good but they starting going downhill soon after. I would transfer all the registerfly ones to either godaddy.com or mydomain.com

For the downtime, i would call and make sure with their tech support... they pay more attention when you actually talk to them on phone and can may be guarantee no downtime. If they (new registrar) preset their name servers to resolve to your IPs, then there should be no downtime.

Re: Domain Transfer

I use register.com 10$ per year for .COM ----- 20$ for .CA

Re: Domain Transfer

Thanks for the reply. I will look into your suggestions.

Registerfly has really gone down recently in terms of customer support. They have written on the website to expect 30 minutes of wait time because of "high call volume". Yeah right :~) Plus, once they pick up the phone they are horrible.

Re: Domain Transfer

Dont skip eNom

BulkRegister is also one of the largest registrars in the world.

eNom purchases BulkRegister to become world’s second-largest domain-name registrar](http://bulkregister.com)

Re: Domain Transfer

I second eNom too, specially if you have a lot of domains. You can technically become a reseller and get further discounts.

Re: Domain Transfer

^ Oye... how is the bandwidth over there?

Re: Domain Transfer

For a domain registrar you don't worry about bandwidth as all the traffic u see is the DNS UDP traffic.

Re: Domain Transfer

No I meant how the bandwidth was where you are currently. lol

Re: Domain Transfer

lol, its not too bad for a dialup. Life in the fast lane :hehe:
