We used to buy coffee mugs from there, long time ago - cause good coffee mugs otherwise are so damn expensive .
I buy scotch brite single packs, broom, dust pan, toilet brush, lint remover, diaper trash bags, wipes, oven liners, vim cleaner, bottles to store daal and spices in. Drawer organizers, aluminum baking pans, pizza pans.
Yes I do a lot of shopping from.the dollar store. :

the ones in canada are nice and clean... but in nyc...they're so...ugh.

I have yet to live a day when begum + bachey went into DOLLARAMA and came out with the bill of less than $40

Clothes hangers, gift bags, wrapping paper and disposable or plastic trays (like if I have to take food somewhere and I have no hope of getting the dishes back, I'll buy a cheap tray for transport).

on side note, let me admit that Dollarama is the best dollar-store in US/Canada beats Dollar-tree hands down

I used to buy aluminum wrap and hangers from there too but hangers are cheaper at other stores like big lots. For aluminum foil, the quality is not good as compared to what I buy from other stores. I use the foil on stove plates and the dolar store ones would tear while putting on the plates.
I do buy gift wraps, party favors and coloring books.

Another thing that is ok at dollar stores is small kitchen drawer tools set. Nothing that would help you to fix your car, but to do odd jobs like tightening a screw here and there, they are pretty ok
