So I have seen a lot of videos for makeovers and the foundation they apply, they never tell you, but the look they give is extremely smooth and glowy and doll look…I want to know the foundation they use. Do any of you know, which foundation can give such a look??
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
Doll-like and extremely smooth makeup is usually achieved by applying full coverage foundation. You can find a trillion full coverage foundations, MAC full coverage foundation is one of my favs, set with MAC's studio fix powder and it'll look incredibly smooth.
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
To get that porcelain doll finish, you need to have good skin to start-off with. Like Pseud mentioned, those are usually heavy/full coverage foundations. Most foundation sticks provide full coverage.
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
thanks to both :)
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
Good skin to start with and then primer, full coverage foundation and then sometimes powder and sometimes not. I don't wear a lot of powder anymore - my skin is turning into more dry-combo now so powder looks too...well...powdery.
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
It took me years to find a foundation that gives a doll faced look and after trying so many products hands down the best one so far is 'Napoleon Perdis china doll foundation' it's a thick creamy formula but goes on very smooth and creamy. Just prime, blend and set it with very little bit of powder such as Ben nye's banana powder works great too, if you want tint to your face use MAC's strobe cream then apply a tiny bit amount for desired coverage, dont over do it it will look like a mask.
If you are in the US some ULTA/Dillard's carry it, however it is on the pricier side but it's one of the best one out there :)

Re: Doll Look Foundation!
I had been on a hunt for the perfect porcelain foundation for about 4 years and Finally I have now Found the best ones.
Everyone’s definition on full coverage foundation is different. For someone who has a good skin even a medium coverage foundation would appear as full coverage on their faces. But let me tell you, in my opinion full coverage means, extreme coverage like to the max! So for years I searched for that sorta perfect foundation, and trust me I tried everything everyone from friends to professional make up artist’s told me. So a lot of people say that Revlon colour stay is a full coverage foundation and many people told me that in the start, and I tried it, and no that is not full coverage in my opinion, for me that foundation is more like a light to medium. So as I was searching and searching a lot of Make up artist had recomanded Laura mercier silk creme, mac , estee lauder double wear, makeup forever Matt velvet, and few other names that I can’t remember at the moment, but seriously they were no where near as full coverage I wanted. So I searched online a lot, YouTube and beauty blogs and finally I came across the name illimasqua rich liquid and when I read the reviews and the pictures I saw I was surprised how full coverage that foundation is. Later on I came to gupshup and asked people here a lot and many said Krylon TV Paint stick and yes That is also a very good full coverage foundation. Recently a few months ago I came across Kat Von Lock it Tattoo and this one is also a very full coverage. Umm The only one I wanted to try so bad was the estee Lauder maximum coverage the old discontinued version, They have a re formulated version of that which a lot of people love too and it is marketed to be a very extreme coverage foundation for scars and tattoo’s but I heard reviews that said that the old one had much more coverage. Plus I compared two videos on the old and new version and I agree the old version seemed to have had much more coverage, so thats why I didn’t even bother trying that one, I have tried a little sample on my hand but w/e I am very content with my Illimasqua rich liquid.
so The good foundations I have tried are:
Illamasqua Rich Liquid - This stuff is like some liquid paint that is so rich and potent, oh man its no joke it’s my fav I wear it everyday.
But this foundation is a tricky one to work with, if you apply it right you can love it but if you don’t prep and apply the right way you will probably hate it.
I at first didn’t like it, because I have dry skin and since this is very rich and potent it went on so bad that it looked soo cakey and made dry patches very visible. soon i found the trick to wearing this foundation, and that is you must at all time have exfoliated skin and especially if you have dry skin then you must wear a good moisturizer, I wear the Nivea ( the white tub). and It just goes on like a dream no joke. And I’ve had this bottle of 30 ML and I’m still not done half way.
Kat von D - Is my second Fav, It is also full coverage but I still think The rich liquid is better in terms of coverage. With this one I don’t really need to apply a moisturizer but I find I need to apply 3 layers of this foundation in order to get a similar effect as the rich liquid. And by the 3rd layer this one for some reason becomes very visible on the skin almost as if it sitting on top of the skin, it doesn’t sync in properly and looks a bit cakey. So when I wear this one I always Only apply 2 layers of this one, and it’s fine, plus you do have to wear a light powder and as for dry skin you can skip powder, otherwise it can look a bit cakey.
Krylon Tv Paint Stick- This stick foundation is very nice too and has the best shade availabilty as well because I think this foundation has around 50 shades or something around that, Crazy. I have friends who like very minimal coverage and also love this foundation as they apply very little of it. And I have work this foundation a lot too and I apply about 4 layers and damn it looks good. it doesn’t look cakey at all I even set it with Mac powder foundation and it looks amazing. The Only reason why I changed to Illamasqua rich liquid was because with this I need to apply 4 layers and with that I can get the same effect with 1-2 layers.
Estee Lauder double wear maximum coverage- I have heard Good things a lot of people love it and claim that it is full coverage but I know that the older one was even more full coverage so that’s why I didn’t wanna try it, If they hadn’t discontinued the older version I woulda tried it but now that they re formulated I just don’t wanna waste my money.
In The first Pic I’m wearing Illamasqua rich liquid
And In this one I’m wearing a light layer of Kat Von D
lol my message kinda got long, Anyway I hope this helps you.
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
I am dyingggg to try the Rich Liquid actuallyyy lol
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
Not a fan of liquid rich. Skin Base is much better, especially layered over a heavier foundation such as TV stick or MAC Full Coverage.
Like Pseudo, I use MAC FC set with studio fix powder. I was already using this combo but found videos of Goss makeupartist recommending it as well. I adopted his method of using a puff to press the powder onto the skin and it makes a huge difference.
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
I also found that the rich liquid dries-up really quick and becomes difficult to blend. I also think that there aren't enough colors/shades to get a perfect 'true' match for yourself.
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
oOlay!!! That’s quiet a breakdown…very impressive I must say ![]()
However I do agree with Gina ‘rich liquid’ dries up to become so hard putty like and an agony to blend…but I like it on you more than the Kat Von D one for sure :k:
Just an FYI for any other Canadian gals…complections movie makeup store in Toronto is offering 30% off all Ilamasqua products :halo:
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
I agree with all of you, A lot ppl say the same about rich liquid. It is def. a hard foundation to work with, and def dries very quickly. If I'm in a hurry I can't wear this one, I def need 30 mins for this foundation lol, And i don't mind that. I always take time out for my makeup because it is very important for me as I don't have a good skin and I really like that flawless face for everyday. And like I said how I myself hated that foundation at first, it took me a while to love it. Well the thing was that, I was so impressed with the coverage that I really wanted it to work for me. And another thing I forgot to mention was that if you have hair on your face, this foundation will not blend in. I personally take my face hair off, not because of this I just did any b4 this, because the problem with full coverage foundations is that they are often so potent and rich that if face hair come in between it becomes even tougher to blend the foundation as it sticks to the hair and then that is the reason why a lot full coverage foundation do not give that smooth appearance.
And I've noticed a big time difference by removing my facial hair, no matter what foundation it is, it will go on just so smooth and will a have nice flat surface to sit on. b4 I remember I used to wonder why does my foundation not sync, like I hated how it looked so weird just looking like a big fat layer on top, well I wanted full coverage but I didn't wanna look like, that I have 50 layers and its about to rub off.
Re: Doll Look Foundation!
First of all, I am talking about this: [YT]Qi5-tseT1C8[/YT]Secondly, I use Krylon TV Paint Stick but since I am here its not giving the results it used to give me in Pakistan. I am now using here Maybelline full coverage but still unable to get the shiny smooth result! :(I will try what alysha has suggested though…
also can anyone please tell me which blush-ons is she using??
