Dolki singer needed for my mehndi!!! - Berkshire

Hi

Does anyone know a woman with a really good singing voice so that she can sing songs at my dolki?! My family are boring and we all just end up clapping hands.

I have looked around and the professionals charge £200 upwards which is more than I want to spend.

Please PM me I’m based in Berkshire area.

Thanks xx

Hi Tahiya,

I'm searching for the same, who have you come across. I've only heard about these 3 indian women who can be hired to aing and play dholki at mendhis but I don't know details, can try and find out.

I only found one company called 'Laghan entertainment' they have dolki singers but charge £350!! Another similar company also charges the same. I just googled it. Please let me know if you find someone thanks!

Why don't you print out lyrics and use those? Or just get a few people who are going to be coming just to practice a little beforehand? I know a family who weren't good at dholkis so they always do that for their dholkis and mehndis. And if you can't be bothered to print out too many copies, keep a list of well known songs that people can just join in for the chorus'?

Trust me we tried even doing that at my sister's and it was still boring! People don't end up knowing the tune of the song etc and we eventually ditched the dholki and just danced instead but I have been to some dolkhis that are really fun but only when everyone joins with the singing instead of hiding at the back of the pack. Also helps if you have a good dholki player who can play good beats. Thanks anyway I will be printing song books etc out
