Those are called 'dokra' not dokri plus it's a gujrati dish not sindhi....I think MarriedNY is talking about some other dish.
Re: dokri..sindhi dish
yes angel dokri is a sindhi dish,,,i know u r talkin about dokra or dhokla..
Re: dokri..sindhi dish
There are lot similarities between people of Sindh and Gujrat and their culture.
Re: dokri..sindhi dish
Dokra or dokri is a Gujrati-style dish made from rice, gram flour and yoghurt. Steamed, diced and served with a delicious mint and tamarind sauce....
And its kinda starter ya know :) aint a main course
Here is the recipe if interested ...
Ingredients
100g/4 oz gram flour
90ml/6 tbsp natural (plain) yoghurt
2.5ml/1/2 tsp garam masala
2.5ml/1/2 tsp ground ginger
2.5ml/1/2 tsp ground red chili
2.5ml/1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1 small green chili, chopped (optional)
salt
2.5ml/1/2 tsp Eno
Tarka
30ml/2 tbsp oil
pinch of asafoetida
2.5ml/1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2.5ml/1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2.5ml/1/2 tsp sesame seeds
5ml/1 tsp sugar
2.5ml/1/2 tsp citric acid
Method:
Blend the flour and yoghurt to make a smooth batter. Mix in the garam masala, ginger, chili, turmeric, green chili, salt and Eno. Cover overnight.
Place a trivet in a large saucepan, fill with water to come just below the trivet and bring to the boil. Pour the batter into a greased heatproof dish.
When the water starts boiling, place the dish on the trivet, cover and cook for 15 minutes until the dokri has doubled in size and is spongy. Remove from the heat and cut it into 2.5cm/1 in pieces.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a heavy-based pan and fry the asafoetida and mustard seeds until they starts crackling. Add the cumin and sesame seeds and fry for a few seconds.
Mix in the dokri. Remove from the heat and mix in the sugar and citric acid. Serve hot or cold at tea with chutney.
Oh those Gujjoo snacks ... Daal Dhokli, Dhokla, Khandvi, Khakhra, Sev Khamani, Muthia, Handva, Patra, Ghughra, Fafda, Ganthia, Kachori and Khaman.

hahahah @ ppl here …![]()
MarriedNY, I tried to google this dish but only found out it’s the name of a town in Larkana. I think maybe the actual name of of dish is something else but maybe some big restaurant in sindh gave it the name of ‘dokri’ so I think you should just try fish recipes on website that mostar gave…shayad koi tv show jesi recipe mil jaye. ![]()

Re: dokri..sindhi dish
Well I really need to travel to Kotri's Almanzar to find about this dish! If it is a Sindhi dish and made up of fish, then there is no place other than the Riverside! It really worth visiting the area these days with loads of water downstream Kotri.
