Has anybody been following the Yukos Oil deal? If you haven’t I seriously think you need to realise how important this deal is for the global supply of oil.
When I read the original story that some mysterious smaller company had won the Yukos deal, it smelled like good old soviet business is back in action and it seems it is. The Russian State oil agency has bought it up giving more power to Putin and eliminating more of his rivals who could claim power.
As for global oil supplies, this means Russia has a far larger say in the supply which translates in to political power internationally and some freedom in its actions in chechnya.
