I think its rude for someone to expect the host to give away food after they have slaved over it all day long. Unless the guest are single folks or somehow poor, i dont see why someone needs to eat dinner at my place and then take the leftovers home. I have never asked someone for a takeaway box unless it was someone close like my mom or my phopo etc. Never otherwise.
In our area, the only time we take food home is when it was a potluck then all the ladies make small portions for everyone to enjoy it the next day but usually the food is so limited, its only enough to taste and not fill your tummy at lunch time.
