LAHORE: Rana Zia Abdul Rehman, has been elected as the president of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA) in its annual elections for the session 2009-10.
Chaudhry Tariq Javed, the candidate backed by former Supreme Court Bar Association president Aitzaz Ahsan, has lost the election for LBA president.
Rana Zia Abdul Rehman was a candidate for the Professional Group of Lawyers, headed by Advocate Hamid Khan. Rehman secured 2,234 votes while Javed got 1,500 votes.
Awan and Chaudhry Khalid have been elected for the two seats of vice-presidents (VP) by defeating their rival candidates, Ghulam Abbas Sahar and Bushra Qamar. Akbar Gujjar won the VP seat from Model Town Courts. Ahmed Yar Chawali and Khurram Rafiq were elected for the seats of secretaries.
