There are many ways of communicating…and obviously we all have different approaches to convey our messages…I’m assuming the purpose to post any kind of message here is to be heard or just take the idea out of your system for a feed back.

Recently, I have noticed a few posts which are totally ridiculous and pure bongies. I know when we are living among a group of people we expect all kinds of input, however, some posts have totally left be perplexed because of their very existance in the first place.
My question is where are we going with these bunch of …oh well! less mature people. I don’t think age has any barriers on the way you write or the ideas you wanna express. I have seen some wonderful, intelligent people on gupshup and I’m just sure that we could make this place more fun by sharing constructive ideas. I think we should be mature enough to differentiate between a public forum and a chat room full of khalifas. Am I right or am I asking too much from our fellow desi brothers and their sisters.

But in a public place you cannot bind everyone from doing whatever he/she wants to do. Only remedy is just to ignore such posts.

Dear Yar Boss, what you failed to recognize that there are all different kinds of people that makeup a community. I think it is wonderful to see such a diverse group and diverse topics. We all need to learn to live with all kinds of people, because by narrowing down the views you might like, you will end up listening to yourself (unless you want it that way!).

Yes to this too, I think its ok to have some bongie threads, but recently the situation has been like ’is-there-a-good-topic-among-all-these-fazool-threads’. The problem is not that I can’t ignore those threads, it’s more like I oversee the good topics while ignoring fazooliyaat, which is unfair.

A few good points:

  • What I don't get is that if there are two or three (at most) people participating in a thread, talking solely at personal level, what's the point of putting such posts on a public forum? E-mail or chat rooms would do it just fine, and probably even better.

  • Agreed. However, I don't think he mean 'REST OF THE GUPPIES', probably just a few of them. Which even though I persnally find disagreeable, does not point to any specific person and hence there is no need to take it personally.

  • Disagreed on the diverse topics' part. In general I would agree with you, but given this particular situation, this 'golden rule' does not quite fit in. Personally, I feel that there are not even half as many positively diverse topics to justify that approach.

  • And after you have done that, please (with sugar etc.), take out the Caps Lock key from the keyboard. You may not be aware of this, but you would be doing a great deal of favor to us all. Pleeeeeeezzz???

Ok, the last note is that calling posts ridiculous is your personal opinion and you have the complete right to voice it. But I am not sure saying 'less mature people' itself is justifiable even if there are no names to name. The reason is that all of us have put of some sort of bongie out there at one point or the other (I would be most prominent on that note), and that's quite natural. But a less mature opinion does not necessarily mean a less mature person behind it as well (Ok, so may be I'm an exception). I think one can only comment more freely on an idea or opinion as compared to people themselves.
