I would rather study the tone actually. If he said something jokingly I have no reason to be so infuriated. Even if he said that in anger maybe I did something bad enough. Everyone can get angry. A spouse is your life partner. If he calls me idiot the sky isnt going to fall at all. But, IF I react then and there, and someone else is there to witness, I will definitely be creating a scene and adding insult to injury.

I can imagin you feel really emmbaressed if it's infront of someone else. I wouldn't like my spouce to talk to me like I'm a no-brainer. It can make you feel worthless because you're supposed to be equal
