I thought this was a thing of the past now in all cultures…obivously not…
Re: Does This Still Happen????
Yeah, unfortunately it does. Allah sabko hidayat de.
Btw, Dailymail has some disgusting images on the sides. Astaghfirullah.
Re: Does This Still Happen????
eugh. daily mail. look what they said under one of their captions:
"Arranged marriages, though typically seen as a thing of the past, are still a common practice in India and in the case of Diptiben Mistry it went terribly wrong"
Typically seen as a thing of the past? How many people on GS have had arranged marriages, I wonder? Do they even know what an arranged marriage is? How it's supposed to work? How according to Islam, parents must ask the female if she is happy with the rishta before going ahead with it? How forced marriage is **not **the same as an arranged marriage?
I think not. My advise? Don't read the Daily Mail.
Ugh.
Re: Does This Still Happen???
Yeah well in India it happens a lot, I saw on BBC news that in New Dehli they have a whole jail for mother in laws who’ve committed brutal crimes against their DIL’s.
The Indians take that In law thing to a whole new level. In traditional Hindu India the wife would be burnt along with her dead husband, though illegal it’s still practiced by some people. Also husband and wife were not allowed to speak to each other or show any affection in front of the guys family. Really messed up.
Where do you think this whole ugly in law culture in Pakistan comes from?
Re: Does This Still Happen????

I dont think its right to attacj a whole nation based on an article by the daily mail? really?
Re: Does This Still Happen???
^^^agreed! This is the narrow-mindedness of the article which is influencing us to insult other nations! Rather than stereotype our fellow neighbours and cause divisions between and within ourselves, let us unite together in a collective hate for the Daily Mail! Surely, that is the best way!! ![]()
Re: Does This Still Happen???
This may have originated in india but trust me its practised here in the UK too. Atleast India have a prision for MIL who think they own their DIL. My sis had a MIL from hell who kept all her belongings she contacted the police and was told it was a domestic issue
OMG and this being a western country :halo:
Re: Does This Still Happen???
After reading your comment, I’m not visiting that site :cobra:
Re: Does This Still Happen????
In india or what now it is equally prevalent in Pakistan. We should be focussing on our own weaknesses instead of pin pointing other imo. Obviously those days are gone but well some people still want to live in the past, and others have to pay for their stubbornness. Sad though.
Re: Does This Still Happen???
lol. Good.
Why does your signature say** PKISTANI**?
Re: Does This Still Happen???
Was she ok in the end? I’ve read quite a few similar stories like this in the UK too, inc one in my local paper (in that case it was a Sikh girl tho) ![]()
Re: Does This Still Happen???
She’s fine but never got a single item back
the problem with areas where most paki/indians live is that the police believe in thier own way that it is common practise for them to behave like this… which realy gets up my nerves…
I heard of a case where a DIL took her MIL to court and sued her for domestic abuse :D…good for her we need more wmen like that
