Re: Does this really work? Straight to wavy hair?
I got a perm a couple of years ago…it was my first time and it was fun. My hair is fine and the stylist was careful about not being harsh with it. It wasn’t hard to manage and I didn’t feel like my hair was damaged…which is commonly said about perms. I’m thinking of getting one again sometime in the future when my hair grows a bit longer. I wish there was a way get long-term waves without harming your hair. :hinna:

I don’t understand you people…I would KILL for straight hair. I would do ANYTHING for it. :sigh:
Re: Does this really work? Straight to wavy hair?
wait… :konfused: are you asking if this curling iron can curl your hair like the girl in the video? If so, yes it does but the kind of curling iron she is using you will need a hair spray to set your curls. I use Jose Eber curling iron (it comes without a clamp). It is THE BEST curling iron i have ever used. You don’t need to use any hair spray whatsoever and the curls last until you wash your hair.

My sister has these lustrous waves...waves the kind you see in the commericals, MashAllah. She doesn't oil it...and yet even when it's in a bun (which is how she has it most of the time)...it looks nice. I envy her because I have to work much harder on mine. On top of that she's the only in our family who has brown hair. And the only one in the family with wavy hair...the rest of us have pin-straight black hair. Don't know who she takes after....and yet she prefers it straight and I don't get it. It loooks good that way too, but even better in its natural form.
Re: Does this really work? Straight to wavy hair?
All of my sisters have shiny thick straight hair RV…I think it looks amazing Mashallah. I envy them so much…lol.
I am the only one as well with the curly hair…my mom had it but not as much as mine. I think my maternal grandfather was the one who had the hair.
But yeah, no one gets my pain. It tangles so easily and even when its straight…a drop of water will ruin it.
I cannot comb it or brush it. In rain, I don’t bother leaving it open…no point…who needs to see an afro? Not me. Especially in the mirror.
OH and it makes my face look rounder…like I need it. :sigh:
Okay so enough of my whining about my hair…let’s all help the OP please.

Curling irons are awesome! Get one, you won’t regret it.
Here’s a picture of how my (straight) hair turns out:
Re: Does this really work? Straight to wavy hair?
I have fine, straight hair and I'm obsessed with waves/loose curls too! The only way my hair curls is if I use a straightener to curl it. I've tried so many curling irons, and they do curl my hair but it falls straight again after about an hour, even with copious amounts of hairspray. My straightener works amazingly well to curl it, and it gives me nice wavy curls rather than little tight ones (which I hate). However, I don't like to heat style my hair too often so another really useful way is pinning it in buns. I shower at night, wait for my hair to be semi dry, then divide my hair into 2 sections: one on top and one in the back. I twist it and pin it down; I wake up with lovely wavy hair! You do have to undo it in small sections and smooth it with a bit of hairspray but it works great and it's quick. And the curls will be loose or ringletty depending on how tight I pin it.
Re: Does this really work? Straight to wavy hair?
i've been using a curling iron since i was like 10, why are you afraid of it? also make sure to keep your hair hydrated bc too many heated styling products can damage your hair and cause split ends. on a side note you could make 4 even braids (part your hair horizontally from your ears and then then vertically to have two on top and two on the bottom. with damp hair make 4 braids and fall asleep, in the morning take it out, run your fingers through them and you have loose waves.
also you can use a triple or double barrel curling iron to get taylor swift like waves/curls or beyonce styled ones
