You getting ready..look fabulous, u know shiny hair that’s behaving, body looking fabulous and glowing skin… only to take a picture and see messy hair and equally messy body..
okay i know we cant fix the discrepancy between reality and pictures with regards to hair and body, but how about makeup? Specifically foundation? it looks good in person but then in pictures it looks spotty or too light… and i’m talking for everyday use not for wedding makeup or anything..matinee, marwah, and basically any other girl (or guy, hey i dont judge) whose painted their face and taken a picture and just gone
at wat ya see in the LCD… yall are needed here.
Re: Does this ever happen to you?
I know what you mean. This is something I think about a lot....I look in the mirror and I think I look like that, but the way others see you is completly different, also I look different in different mirrors! Some make me look similar, fatter, short etc.... I dont think anyone can see what others can see in you, unless you watch yourself on video. They dont notice the things you notice about yourself. Also it all has to do with the lighting too.

everyday.

Re: Does this ever happen to you?
lol okay, yes it happens quite a bit. whenever you have a not so thick layer of makeup on your face, and take a picture it appears spotty, thicker on some areas and lighter on others. i usually just have foundation powder on my skin, on top of that my skin is oily so it comes off a little, and in pictures you can see 10 different colors on my face.
so what you should do is make sure you're putting on your makeup in good light where can you can see every little blemish/pimple/mark of your skin so you apply your makeup evenly all over your face. or if you have oily skin keep using blotting paper and reapplying the powder on the oily areas. that's what i do, i have no choice and i don't wanna use mattifying sprays on my face everyday.
you can also just apply your foundation a little more thicker. i recently painted my face with a lot of foundation, and although i made myself look lighter, (i was supposed to look like a vampire) my face didn't look spotty and my face had one color in my pictures. that was because i had a thick layer on my face. i put on a stick foundation and then foundation powder on top of that. hope that helps!
^ thanks for the detailed reply marwah....
so when you apply the thick layer of foundation...doesnt it look "odd" in reality? for every day i wear bare minerals, i think my liquid one is too heavy for me now (lancome)...

Re: Does this ever happen to you?
Whenever I go out somewhere I always look in the mirror, give myself the once-over and then quickly take a couple pics of myself to see if everything looks good... and sometimes when I look in the mirror I feel all confident and gorgeous and then the pictures make me look like im having a bad face day... eyes too small looking, lips too pouty etc etc... and other days I look in the mirror and go yelkhh but the pictures look awesome.. what gives?
Re: Does this ever happen to you?
You are photogenic ![]()
hey i kno wat u r talking bou tit used to happen to me alot, esp since we have desi skin UGH! so yea try using mineral foundations, because they give u such a gud natural even and flawless look i use dem all the time i stopped using liquid or stick foundations. try loreal minerals cheeap and gud. also try buying PHOTO PRIMER OR PHOTO FINISH from sephora. awesome stuff.
Re: Does this ever happen to you?
For foundation Ive noticed when I blend my makeup really well it makes a difference in pictures. The colors you're using could be mixing with the light of the room and giving you that blotchy look on camera.
Blend your foundation with the rest of your face...even it out and make sure it doesnt look lighter than your neck!
Sara, a primer helps the foundation glide on easier..and makes it appear less blotchy and patchy. When u apply u're foundation remember to blend really well (outwards and downward strokes) and blend all the way down u're neck as well. Seems to me that u're foundation still is light..(remember the camera has lights too) and hence comes out lighter in pictures.
An ideal shade of foundation shud disappear on u're skin.. if need be cover all blemishes with a concealer first and then go over with foundation. I usually use a face powder a shade darker than my foundation...that "sets" it beautifully!
Skin can also appear patchy if u have any dry area's..so exfoliate and try a light reflecting foundation..or one of the many radiance brushes out there =)

i tried everyday minerals powder and i felt that it didn't give me good coverage. even after i used the concealer it just didn't look as good as my MAC foundation powder does. it didn't suit my skin. maybe you should try different powders and see what looks better?
Re: Does this ever happen to you?
omg i hate it when that happens.. it might be because of the flash that highlights everything! other than that just use a really good brush to apply a bit of powder after your foundation and blend everything
Re: Does this ever happen to you?
have u met adobe photoshop yet?
make it your new best friend.
Re: Does this ever happen to you?
^ lol it's true. i've stopped giving a **** about oil control. i would have to blot every 30mins to keep myself shine-free if it's in any way warm. no amount of primers etc have worked. it's something that takes 30seconds to fix in photoshop, so i don't care anymoreeee.
^ Benefit's Dr Feel Good =) keeps u're skin matte ..
Re: Does this ever happen to you?
Happens to me all the time, the opposite is true as well!! Infact when I thought the pics would come out awful they came out good. Usuually though the pics look awful even when i thought I looked good in person.
