does society dictate..

whose good looking and whose not?

do u think we are too influenced by models and magazines and hence do not see the beauty in someone whose different? different from what Vogue or Cosmopolitan think is beautiful?

We always have a go at guys for wanting this and that in a perfect girl.. and we blame our desi mentality for it.. but what bout us girls? what influences our decisions about what we find attractive in a guys appearance?

are we not at fault too for oohing and aahing over certain physical attributes in guys (hairstyle, the shape of his face, his complexion)?

for me personally, the personality of an individual is worth so much more than what he actually looks like… but lets hear what u gals have got to say

my likes:

Long hair (OH GOD...SO SEXY. )

UNHAIRY!!!!!!! (ARGH!!!!!!! I don't want her to be hairier than me and I am pretty hairless)

Clear skin (so she won't ask me for makeup money all the time)

Full lips (I love kissing. enuff said)

Full Bodied (Not especially a fan of skinny women. Don't like fat ones either)

Strong (So she can beat the crap out of me when I misbehave)

Soft hands (So it doesnt hurt as much when she beats me)

I'll try to think of some more :p

thank u for that fallenpieta

yet again, the point has been missed

It was an attempt at humor. Sorry. I'll be serious now :(

^ oh woops... sorry its monday morning. Im still half asleep

Ok. I tried but I just cannot get serious.

no worries

I saw an interesting show in the discovery channel a while back on beauty and how humans determine whether they find someone else beautiful or not. There was actually a scientific study done apparently....

They found that the more symmetrical a face is, the more beautiful. No one's face is perfectly symmetrical, it was amazing when they showed a number of photos of people - first a regular photo then the photo cut in half and reversed (so that they could put the face back together with 2 left sides and 2 right sides). Amazing how "off" they were, even the people who you'd swear were perfectly symmetrical.

They came up with specific measurements of distance between each facial feature - the closer to the "ideal" distances, the more beautiful.

Their findings crossed racial and cultural lines to a very great extent.

wow.. very interesting Mamof3.. i just find it very intriguing what people find attractive and what not.

Us larkian are seedhi saadhi. We don’t have too many nakhray so long as the guy is educated and decent looking.

Personally, I find personality much more attractive than looks. Personality is what really counts and matters in the long run, while looks fade away. It basically has to be balanced. Ie. decent looks + great personality

I think i’m beautiful even if I’m nowhere near as good looking as the Miss Indias or the magazine models or even most of the grls on gupshup :bummer:

Sorry i probably missed ur point..i just wanted to comment  :halo:

its ok if u missed the point… im glad ur happy with who and what u r :k:

my point was… ive even forgotten

Okay i re-read everything....

It's funny I was thinking of this a few days ago. To me, once I get to know a person, my physical perception of them changes, guy or girl. There's some girls who I thought were beautiful and attractive, and then i got to know them, and they just look very...not attractive... to me now (sorry ugly is too harsh of a word). And then there's others, they weren't THAT great looking when i first met them, but once I got to know them..just..wow....lol....absolutely gorgeous. And then theres those whom my perception doesn't change. They were beautiful when i met em and are still beautiful

so yeah...i thin personality dictates your physical appearance. i fully believe that if you have an ugly personality, it shows through, in your face or body.
