Such as American and European country’s embassies do?
I am sure in some countries Pakistani embassy does have some power. What about African countries and such?

They help, but they don't come to help in all cases. A lot of times you have to go and seek them out. Our embassy here in the US was pretty helpful in the days and weeks following 9/11 with the onset of special registeration. At least that was my experience.

on a scale of 1 - 10, I would give them around 6
They should be around 9 - 9.5
They help - but as if they dont like being asked to do something, and if they are doing it, they are doing a huge ehsan on you and you should behave yourself and not bother them again for at least 5 years

we have had a couple of experiences. back in the day when my mum had to be airlifted out of NIgeria, the Pakistan Embassy was very active.
when we went for adoption, although not in an official capacity, the Pakistani ambassador in Rabat helped us a lot. I cant even begin to explain what her help meant to us.
I need to locate her, but she is back in pakistan now, not sure how I will locate her.

Hmmm a question:
I see people opening Immigration/Visa threads every now and then. So here's the scenerio. If a person applied for his/her spouse Visa for USA (places like UK can be considered as well I guess) and everything in USA went smoothly. The case was forwarded to US Embassy in Pakistan and everything there went fine. The spouse was called for Interview but now is waiting for Visa and its been awhile and still no Visa when he/she was told 6-7 days. Would it be wise to contact the US Embassy here (in USA) and ask them to contact the embassy there to speed up the process? I think when NVC forwards the cases to Pakistan, they have nothing to do with it. So would it be wise to contact the Pakistan Embassy in USA instead and ask them to contact the Embassy in Pakistan?
Would it rather be wise to wait patiently or is there someone else a person can contact (if the Embassy in Islamabad is not very responsive)?

i know the british embassy here in egypt is very helpful u get a stamp on ya passport and u get put on top off the list in case of emergencies…
and i heard its the same with pakistani embassy to here in egypt from what ive been told by friends…

That's what I was getting at. I think in some countries (or at some time) it is helpful, in others, it is really not.
I think they forgot Pakistanis lived in Kuwait during Gulf War I.

I would say contact the congressman/congresswoman/senator for your area.

A lot of it depends on who is in charge and who one is dealing with. Some people think that since they passed the CSS exam and are now 'diplomats' they are entitled to their sahebi. they will talk at length about those "jahil loag...kuch naheen kartay" etc etc. while others are better and get things done. Even then it comes down to the ambassador/charge d'affaires. If he sends a directive to provide good service, the staff will follow. I don't think there is any stress on rendering service to the citizens at the Foreign Services Academy.

If help is sought, Pakistani Embassy does help their citizens. At one occasion when Brits were lazy PK embassy was more active in replying & sorting my issue out. So I have to give them credit from my personal experience.

US embassy in US???
US embassy can only be in countries other than US. Similarly A Paki Embassy can be in any country except Pak. You understand?
