We don't lack politicians... it's just that just about all our politicians pledge their loyalty to one of a handful of individuals to get ahead in politics - Benazir, Nawaz, etc.

We don't lack politicians, we lack statesman. Some forces don't want the institution of "politics" to be mature, it will chop their limbs , if gets matured.

with 80+ parties submitting papers for elections a few years ago, its not that we lack politicians, we just lack good ones.

I was thinking about that few days ago..
in my opinion pakistan seriously lacks front line politicians though it may have a lot of second line and low lever politicians. Pakistani public has very limited options to choose from.
Its almost like one big politician per party and they never have any competition from within the party.
I guess 8 years of presidents rule didnt let any new leaders come up .

In Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto served twice as prime minister, beginning in 1988. Nawaz Sharif served twice as prime minister, beginning in 1990. And Pervez Musharraf has led the country since 1999. Why do these three leaders continue to dominate the political scene after all these years? Where are the new faces?
