Quran 18:28
And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening seeking his Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life....

this verse is revealed to the Prophet, where Allah is instructing the prophet to stick with the company of those who r faithful....

be happy living with those who call on their Lord, morning and evening, why????
part 1: so that the effect of the company will keep u away from wrong thoughts....
if u want more explanation on how company effects a person start a new thread....

part 2: and dont look away from them, beyond the good company seeking the pomp and glitter of life....

so if the prophet has to adhere to strict rules like this, for the good of his faith, i can easily, without knowing any other person, say that the same shud be true for him/her too....

if its Allah's happiness with u that u seek, then its a different thing....
but if ur eyes seek the "pomp and glitter of the worldly life" be thankful to Allah that u r born in the west....

and deny it as much as u like, west takes u away from religion....

How would you know this? Do you live in the West? Do you see how people live and practice Islam?

Armugal, very improper and irresponsible statements from you regarding the west, which as per you takes one away from religion - please dont generalize.

Allah(SWT) guides whom He wills, east or west or anywhere in the universe.

Allah(swt) knows best.

WaSalaam

armughal... id rather be practising islam where shia, sunni, ahmedis all practise their faith under one roof... id rather be living somewhere where islam is not confused with culture... where we dont question each others caste or race...

if Allah Mian made the entire planet.. and we muslims are to spread Islam.. how can we do that by sitting in one place? shouldnt we broaden our horizons and live in places where we can convert more people to Islam?

if ur faith is weakened by living in the west.. and ur tempted to behave in a way Islam prohibits.. then it doesnt mean that every other muslim living in the west will do the same...

why dont you talk about best educational and research institutions
why u only notice bars and women?

I dont know if my views have changed because I grew up here for the most part, so cant really compare. I guess you were asking people who have lived in the East, and then moved to the West. Not sure.

I dont think my parents views changed after moving to the States.

I just noticed about myself that, I am only now beginning to see the true beauty that is Islam. smile

^ hey munni.. yeah i guess i was kinda referring to people whove lived in east and west... ive grown up in OZ for most of the part as well.. but i was just wondering whehter faith changes... i mean ive been to paki a few times too... when i was younger it made a difference to my faith... but i guess as i grew up.. i think the changes were more inside me rather than outside.. does that make sense...
