Got it in e-mail-- turned out to be a good morale.
A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: “I don’t believe that God exists.”
“Why do you say that?” asked the customer.
“Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn’t exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can’t imagine a loving a God who would allow all of these things.”
The customer thought for a moment, but didn’t respond because he didn’t want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.
The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: “You know what? Barbers do not exist.”
“How can you say that?” asked the surprised barber. “I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!”
“No!” the customer exclaimed. “Barbers don’t exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.”
“Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me.”
“Exactly!”- affirmed the customer. “That’s the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don’t go to Him and do not look for Him. That’s why there’s so much pain and suffering in the world.”
not sure what the morale of the story practically is. suppose there is a very sick child. what should she do to alleviate her pain and suffering?
If there is a sick child she should contact to a good pediatric(doctor) if doctor exists.
If disease is uncurable or there are no means to save the life of the child---she has to content herself with the belief that this body is a "materialistic existence" and Atman(Soul) cannot be created nor destroyed nor it can be killed.
Existence of God is highly debatable.
Unless you know God or you have Realized God, you can neither support nor negate this statement that "God Exists".
That's concept of God according to me in a nutshell.:D
*The post about the sick child remind me of a passage in this famous Sufi book(can't remember the name right now) it translated something like this...
Past the seeker as he prayed came the crippled and the beggar and the beaten. And seeing them...He cried, "Great God, how is it that a loving creator can see such things and yet do nothing about them?"...God replied "I did do something. I made you.""*
*M249boost Its has to be loved because its so simple n profound.
back to the topic ,Satan is a strong adversory he make us blind to our own power n make us feel inferior than animales. We all have some power in our hand but we always look at others when that power is needed to ne used.We do got limits but inside those limits there r powers.
Whther its the sick kid or any other person who suffers the prolem is we just ignore it n not even fulfill our duty to call it bad at least in our hearts which according to Mohammed Pbuh is a weak form of faith/Imaan.
The story of Barber is beautiful. It signifies how lazy we become to do th simplest of task n thats to be human n think like one.A human is a human ,if he got resources then he should go ahead with his good deeds .Resources does not neseassarly mean money but even a smile to ur own bro is a charity.Even for a smile we look at an other n expect him to smile first.
