So I get home and my dad has bought 6 packets of slice cheese, 4 things of block cheese, and today he comes home with freshly cut deli cheese ( 2 packets) . For the love of god THEY DON’T EVEN EAT CHEESE:halo:!!!
So can I freeze? Because it’s going to take at least 6 months finishing it up.
Types: Cheddar, Pepper jack, Mozzarella, White cheddar, Swiss, and Monterey Jack
Ohh and lets not forget about 3 more packets of shredded cheese
I freeze sliced cheese packs on a regular basis, because we are slow with using sliced cheese at home. They stay well for 3-4 months. Others i haven't done so i can't tell =)
In the event you don't like the texture, you can always shred the cheese and use it in mac and cheese, top pastas/lasagne with it - so you've got options to prevent it from going to waste.
I think its just fresh , cottage cheese that has issues in freezing , the rest of them are fine .. I have tried freezing different types of cheese and they always come out fine , except the cream one and the cottage cheese ..
Cream cheese does NOT freeze well. It loses it's spreadable consistency. You can still use it in recipes that require cream cheese (I use it in cakes), but prefer fresh over frozen.
Sliced cheddar, if by that you mean processed - it's okay to freeze - it generally thaws okay (not great) but okay.
i froze cheese before, american cheese slices, and they seemed totally fine when i transferred them to the fridge no issues and it didn't become soft and smushy
