**I saw this online going through random shadi photos, but I have never seen or heard of this rasm.
Do any of you know what this rasam is? What it represents? What happens?
Responses would be much appreciated ![]()

Re: Does anyone know this rasm?
This is "ungli (finger) pakarna!!! It's at the mehndi...the brides sister(s) put a little mehndi or ubtan on the grooms pinky, and then hang on for dear life as they ask for money! I thought it was a pretty common rasm?!?! My family and most those I know have always done this!
Re: Does anyone know this rasm?
**Yeh, but is there a significance for the cloth wrapped around his finger?
I haven't had the chance to attend many desi weddings. :( So I know VERY little about rasams and "common" traditions.
The ones I do know are ghooda batay, dood pilay, joota chupai..
Ufff... How about we turn this into a "different rasams that everyone has in their families" thread. :p**
Re: Does anyone know this rasm?
Lol, the cloth has no significance other than to keep the mehndi/ubtan on the finger and give the saalis something to do/hang on too!!! ![]()

Ungli grabbing rasam as I call it.
You just grab onto your BIL’s ungli and don’t let go until he signs over his life savings to ya ![]()
Re: Does anyone know this rasm?
Yes this rassam is called 'ungli pakrayi'.. I only just got to know about it recently as I seen it on GMP on Nida's wedding shows. I think it's a very common rassam in Karachi? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.. Cuz I dnt think Punjabi's do this? Cuz I've certainly never seen or heard this done before either.
