I haven’t seen the interviews that you are talking about but from what I know of Nida Yasir and of the couple of shows that I have seen, I know that she is not even close to being qualified for conducting such interviews.

Some interviews maybe necessary to highlight social issues, but our channels need to realise that they need to be done with emapthy and sensitivity and not just for the sake of a dramatic interview.

There are no journalistic guidelines within the Pakistani media at the moment. BBC has highlighted this in quite a few articles over the past few years. I posted the links to these articles in the thread about lack of decency in dramas.

Geo Hina kay Sath was one of the best t.v. shows on air (it was hosted by “Sara’s mother” in Humsafar). I have no idea why they cancelled it. She brought up so many social issues with tact and decency.

Even if you try and watch the news, the way the news is brought to the public is not appropriate. There are no guidelines and these channels are private. It doesn’t help that the state backed channels are not doing much to assist the situation.
