Doctors want to cut me open

Why is it that every time that I go to the doctors these days they want to slice me away?

I went to endocronologist - she gave a laundry list of tests, labs, bloodwork and a thyroid biopsy.

I took my daughter to her ped - and he told me to also get her bloodwork, hearing test and a visit to the neurologist.

Are these things really necessary and now they aren’t even covered fully by insurance?

With increasing cost of healthcare - shouldn’t doctors take a step by step approach? Should we use webmd.com to diagnose ourselves but to what point.

In the end it’s really the doctors call - they are the experts and I am the one who pays their bills.

so what’s the problem ? :chai: ..

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

The problem firenze is that I think we don't need to be lab rat. I think they are making money!!!

if you don’t take the tests, how they know.. what kind a stuff is gaining area inside you … :chai:

The only reason life expectancy is better in west or developed countries…

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

Don't you think by going to med school and residency they would know to pin point things?

No, the same way i can't tell the problem without going through a thousand line code !

Neither they don't have knowledge of Hakeem Allah-Dita, who can tell everything and every future diseases one going to have by just holding your wrist !

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

Seiously Firenze- going through code is a tad bit different than taking a 10 blade in your hand. You don't think some doctors try to manipulate you?

Instead of giving you quick fix or a natural remedy they will inflict any type of medication and procedure.

You wouldn't have to go through 1000 lines of code if you wrote better code :) It's called object orineted programming :)

OOP :rotfl: .. you don’t have to tell me about it. but in my company we mostly follow Agile development approach

it was just an example, sometimes its 50000 lines of codes, part of life !

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

I agree that sometimes , some tests are not needed but since doctors get a cut out of those they want you to have those tests. Try to get a referral on a doctor before you select them to be your doctor.
Problem is in the end we do not know which one is required in the situation and which one is not.

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

well why did you go to the endocrinologist?

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

Just wait till you start skool....my youngest starts kindergarten in sept and I had to attend a meeting the other nite. The new rules are: the child must be brought to the school in June for a health screening and interview with a parent. They must have ALL of their innoculations complete. They must have their dentist fill out an eval form for the school. They must be evaluated at the school by the school psychologist, speech-language pathologist and Occupational Therapist. And they must be evaluated in a group setting with all other incoming kindergarteners and all K-level teachers for placement and eval.

It's ture and maybe they'll suggest treatment that is a mountain when you need is a mole hill.

For instance fertility docs are just so quick to jump on IVF procedures and not solving the real issues.

The time to trust doctor blindly is gone. But again the last call is in their hands.

Me too mama - I have to take her to dentist too - more bills I guess...

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

I seriously think that you are lucky to get attention from your doctors.............with rising cost of health care, doctors don't get reimbursed that much.............so I was kind of surprised to see that your doctors are actually taking the time to write tests for you...........and is there reason that your doctor is sending your daughter to a neurologist?...........I agree he shouldn't do that unless there is cause for concern

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

how do you check your metabolism if not with a lot of tests and biopsies?

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

maybe they wanna see whats inside.. imo .. :chai:

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

^he didn't ask why............he asked how

are you usually this difficult - why a biopsy? I don't get it?

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

oh could it be that they want to see if your thyroid has a histological abnormality?

if you have questions espcially about meds or tests and procedures, your doc is obliged to answer every one of them. ask them, they get paid by you.

They know sometimes but the problem is not the money the problem is liability. They will never take risk telling you right away until it is confirmed because they know that if GOd forbid something goes wrong then they will be the one who will get sued.

Re: Doctors want to cut me open

^oh yeah.............the liability issue.............another big one........
