I have seen average looking people developing magnetism and charm in their personalities by properly grooming themselves. Case in point is Angelina Jolie. She was a very ordinary looking girl in 80's. Even Oprah became a much attractive person in last few years. At the end, how good you look is based more upon a good self esteem than self centered shallowness.

Yes in some occupations but not in all. I know for a fact that in my career line, you will not be able to even take two steps only with a pretty face..

people do not just pursue anything and everything because they know they have a pretty face. They don't just get up and think "oh, im pretty, leme become a lawyer. I'll def make my way up."

And u know what...it's not even that hard to be good looking.
keep your body fit (ok that's a challenge for some) but for most ppl its a matter of grooming, perosnal hygeine and style...it's not too difficult nor expensive to be attractive.

i think in some instances... good looking could actually mean, well groomed.. people who take care in their appearance and make an effort , not going over the top as such..
i dunno? Generally, well groomed people, come across more confident.. and people hiring/interviewing do want to employ people who are presentable.. no?
This is actually very true. I read a study which concluded that grooming played a very big part in a person's attractiveness. Obviously if you're Brad Pitt you don't have to try as hard but you get the point.
It has also been proven that attractive people get more opportunities in life. It doesn't mean that someone who isn't attractive can't get ahead, just that they won't get that instant attention that someone attractive gets.
And upbringing does play a part in it. Whether because of parents or other circumstances, I find that people who have been taught to respect other qualities, or have gone through hardship themselves, place less value on beauty. However, we're all hardwired to respond to beauty.

Thats a very interesting point.
You'd be surprised that how many of those good looking people actually don't 'believe' that there's something very special about them. True that it might be very common for them to hear compliments but that doesn't necessarily mean that they they take them seriously. For example, Johnny Depp can be described as a person who isn't very conscious of the fact how handsome he is (despite him being named as a sexiest/most beautiful man time and time again) but when you look at people like Zac Afron, you certainly get the impression that they're very aware of their good looks and like selling em. It so comes across in their overall personality and attitude.

You find various personalities among the good looking and among the less attractive. While so many factors influence personality....yes, one group does have it easier.

I think being good looking definitely makes things easier but not too much. You cannot just catapult to the top riding on your looks. A break here and there, sure. But after that you do have to prove yourself. Favors only go so far...people cannot speak for you.
Do better looking people have better personalities? They can because of their confidence level. Sometimes its easier to talk to a beautiful female/male and sometimes its hard because their head is too big. It all depends on who it is.
I've met girls who are very pretty but very insecure because they constantly have an image to live up to. Ive met girls who are average and insecure. Ive met girls who are average and confident. Ive met girls who are beautiful and completely secure.

it's like saying do well-spoken people get a break...well, duh! it shows confidence amongst other qualities
well-groomed/good-looking= confident, amongst other qualities.
