DO you think praying in jamaat

brings families closer?

Inspired by a blog.

Husband-wife, men of the home, the entire family, whatever…praying whichever namaazein they get at home, together in jamaat… What are the benefits?

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

I’ll think about it and let you know :chai:

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

Yup

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

i don’t know. but i think if it was of any benefit Allah would have ordered men to pray at home instead of masjids :halo:

PS. i m too much groggy now.

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

We don't have a masjid nearby so we try to do namaaz together ba jamaat at home with the kids as much as possible. For the kids, Ishaa namaaz in particular, has become part of the bedtime routine. There is nothing else I can think of, which brings the family closer.

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

We don't on a normal basis but if there are guests or once in a while when we happen to all be praying at the exact same time then we do it together.

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

Have never done it with all my family but i do remember aas a kid when i first started reading namaz, reading it alongside my mum and sister, it was a good feeling :)

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

it would be a wonderful opportunity to get your kids to be regular in namaz too ..and esp when they are in the learning phase...

verbally telling a kid to do something isn't as effective unless they see their parents doing the same thing ...this develops their interest and can mould habits which would be a sadqah-e-jarya for the parents IA if fruitful :)

true a man should perform his prayers in congregation preferably ..but if he's unable to do so ..because of the distance or any other reason , saying prayers in jamaat would also carry alot of sawab :)

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

I think so. I think it bonds a family and creates something you cant really put into words...just a feeling of closeness and protection.

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

^agree

a family that prays together, eats together...stays together

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

We used to pray in jamat at home, my bro, my dad and I. We don't do it very often, but I can't really say if it makes us closer to each other or not. I'd say that it's more that we pray together because of a certain closeness that's already there.

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

Definitely does :)

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

Me and my husband always pray together in the evenings when he comes home from work and yeah I think it does bring us closer. We started praying together while I was pregnant and the routine of doing this in the evening has continued since. Its really lovely Mashallah.

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

truly does!!
My Khala (May Allah grant her Jannah) & her husband made sure they prayed namaz ba-jamaat at home whenever they were home together. So pretty much Fajr, Maghrib & ishaa were all prayed at home ba-jamaat. Its become such a norm in their home that the children now hear the azaan, take out the prayer mats and call their father to lead the prayers - its something that has brought them together over the years and im pretty sure they'll instill those values in their kids too -

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

^ My kids mashallah do exactly that. As soon as they hear the azaan which we have setup on the computer, they set up the Prayer mats and call their dad. We feel very blessed and proud at those moments indeed.

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

Wow Mashallah...

Re: DO you think praying in jamaat

I'll just add that at the time when it was just my bro, my dad and I, at that it didn't feel like it particularly made us closer to one another. Looking back however, I can say that it did have that effect, particularly when we started going to the masjid together. We would stop whatever we were doing at that time and get together. I definitely found that praying in jamat did develop a closeness to other people in the community whom we prayed with. People whom we've met since we started frequenting the masjid back in my late teens are still very close friends with us today.
