Hmm. I dont know if its gender based. I’ve seen a lot of females with a greater ego. I’m trying to think of a perfect example but may be its too late night and mind is slow so will come back later.
Majority of Men know and use the rear view mirror inside ones car is only for observing the Traffic behind your car! along with the two mirrors outside used for changing lanes
Majority of Women and all Girls think the inside Mirror is for putting on Make Up! 
and have No concept what it and the two outside Mirrors are there for!

I think testosterone is partly responsible for an inflated ego and rest of the work is done by how they are brought up.

I think it depends mostly on the situation that confronts us all, Men or Women!, Men are usually quick to react, it is our Hunter instinct! and in Women the gathering instinct usually kicks in so they will gather more information before making … decisions; but all of us can be impulsive to, depending again on the situation!
And then again it is all about our priorities in life!

Everyone’s got an ego. But I have observed a couple of things. For one, an out-of-whack ego usually has something to do with an unhealthy upbringing. I have also observed that men (or persons) that belong to illustrious professions or positions of power or pomp can have a very self-serving mindset.
Yes men are too egotistical and there is alot of this toxic masculinity in our culture. I don’t understand how pakistani women put up with us for so long. They should be compensated for men ruining their mental well being and causing harm
