Do you think India will comply?

http://www.dawn.com/2011/09/25/india-told-to-stop-work-on-kishanganga-dam.html

Water is becoming a scarce commodity these days and considering a majority of the water sources of Pakistan come from India, do you think India will comply with the orders of the court?

Re: Do you think India will comply?

^^ India is looking forward to a greater role in South Asia, i.e. Front line State of US for war against terrorism and China, so they can easily neglect the orders and Pakistan can whine as much as they want and IC can order as much as they want...

Re: Do you think India will comply?

No matter what our courts says, India will never accede to any of our demands. We hv tried our best, since decades, to honor Kashmir plebiscite but failed. The most important reason behind India’s deaf ear to our demands is: India’s economy is going to replace Japan’s as the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] largest (behind US & China). Now with US on its side, even China, Iran or S.Arabia, our so called friends, do not want to be in its bad books. Our over dependency on China in most of our diplomatic endeavors has not resulted any positivity. The only thing that works for us is to build big dams on our own rivers. For that we need to create trust amongst the federation. Sind, the diehard opponent of KBD is the worst affected by the floods. We cannot serve the national interest by fighting amongst ourselves. We need a strong Pakistan: Economically, socially, diplomatically and militarily. This can happened only when we start thinking as Pakistanis first, everything else later.

Re: Do you think India will comply?

^^ Our Courts???

Re: Do you think India will comply?

The court has asked India to suspend building till the final decision is made **OR **India can continue at their risk. That is, if India loses the case, it may be asked to amend / dismantling the dam.

India's decision to build these dams is on improving the life of ordinery people living in India, and it may also believe it has broken no rules in the Indo pak treaty. As such it has taken the risk.

Re: Do you think India will comply?

India and comply… LOL…

Re: Do you think India will comply?

Our next war with India will be over water. Its a live or die kinda thing now.

Re: Do you think India will comply?

time and time again Pakistan says India is unfairly diverting water with the upstream construction of barrages and dams, but India always denied the charges!!!
ofcourse wht would one expect from a country like India!! ...

Re: Do you think India will comply?

Pakistan needs to get its own house in order before it can tell others what to do. :)

Re: Do you think India will comply?

Well we all know that India is not going to comply. But lets see what kind of response we get from them.

Re: Do you think India will comply?

so by what time you are going to attack india? don't you have enough war till now? an international court of arbritation has given an stay only to stop any further permanant construction above the bed of river . if you don't know , india has been given orders to produce their point of view ,dont jump on conclusions , this dam is not being constructed without consent of pakistan or international authorities .their is a treaty named as indus water treaty . this dam is under construction from almost ten years now and out of three stages two stages has already been completed ,third is to be completed by 2014.
forget about war neither india nor pakistan are capable of continuing a war longer than 25 days , then what ? cease fire and same drama .
we are not going to war for the sharing of water international agencies are their to sort the matter out amicably.

Re: Do you think India will comply?

Wrong. From the Court order itself:

"India shall not proceed with the construction of any permanent works on or above the Kishanganga/Neelum River bed at the Gurez site that may inhibit the restoration of the flow of the river to its natural channel."

End of story. The question is will India comply? Most Pakistanis doubt it. And most Indians say that they don't need to comply. Shows to us what you guys really think.

Re: Do you think India will comply?

CM: I searched the web and found mainly pakistani newspapers & pakistani websites commenting on this issue. No comment from Indian websites - could mean that India does not take this news as a major story OR officially India is still unsure what response to give.

Whatever the case, it seems it is a victory for Pakistan concerns.

Re: Do you think India will comply?

well in all fairness, both India and Pakistan should follow indus water treaty, that devide the use of water of rivers between India and Pakistan, 3 upper river waters goes to Pakistan and 3 lower western rivers water use is assigned to India. this is plane simple formula but problem started when India started building dams on the rivers that belong to Pakistan for water usage! namely Indus, Jehlum, and Chenab, while India has rights to Ravi, Satluj, Beas!

I think its govt Pakistan weaker stance and not watching the india starting building dams and rasoviors on rivers that are assigned to Pakistan also hindering, controlling and changing the course of the water.
