Myself and my husband are seriously considering moving to Lahore. I’d essentially be a British Expat there,but I would open a business once I got settled (which I’m currently researching).
I’ve travelled all of my life,and spent most of my childhood living in Islamic countries,so I would be somewhat familiar to with Pakistani life/culture (albeit not all). Of course, I would visit first before any final decisions would be made.
I guess my question is: do you think a British woman could settle in Lahore?
I just dont feel where I am gives us a real quality of life.I want my son to grow up speaking his Daddys language and knowing his heritage.I just dont think if we stayed here he would have a real understanding of culture and family.
you need to figure out what are the bottomline minimum you require to be able to settle in any place........once you figure those out then we can tell you whether those are available in Lahore or not......
moving anywhere is a big step good luck in whatever you do....
You must make sure you do all your homework on lahore ..wr here to help with any questions you might have....
are you english british or desi british..just wondering as that will affect your adaptability..
if your english ppl will be more tolerant if your desi ppl will make fun of you rather than help you(personal experience speaking here )
but overall lahore is definately more tolerable now than 25yrs ago when basic necessaties weren't even available....
but pakistani ppl are more loving ,welcoming ...

ofcourse u can settle there...being from lahore myself u surely can if you have a nice job or business as you are saying it....u have money u can live a very good comfy life in pakistan.
it doesnot matter if u have asian origins or not. as the time will go u will learn about pakistan and its culture and your spouse will be there to help you.
i'll advise you to work as a teacher in a school while u are still looking for a business/proper job. benefit of being a teacher will be that u will have some money till u get business ready...plus u have a good english therefore they will take u in hands.
how good is your urdu? u might have difficulties when trying to talk in urdu (depending if your urdu is weak) but thats not a big problem at all...u will learn it with time.
ps. i usually hear ppl from pak moving to a foreign country but this is opp here.....nice to hear that...good luck
