Do you think God

has a sense of humor?

Re: Do you think God

Yes. I call it synchronicity ;)

Re: Do you think God

that would explain some of the people I know.

Re: Do you think God

First, one needs to define what humor is, and then one needs to see if that humor fits in to the description of God/Allah’s words/actions.

Off course no one can really grasp God’s/Allah’s ‘mind’ and intentions beyond what he himself tells in his words or actions.

The moment anyone reads this question, the usual meaning of humor may come to that person’s mind.

And there may lie the flaw in trying to explain something based on a person’s perception of what humor is!

Even though I very much enjoyed the humor (having the sense of humor :hehe: ) the answer by Muzna, that answer is one example of what I said in above lines.

We are naturally inclined to ‘project’ our understanding of emotions over to God/Allah. Since that is the best we can do!

Speaking of ‘projection’ of feelings, some people say we the creation of God are ‘reflection’ of God and since we have sense of humor, God also has sense of humor.

There is perhaps a verse in Quran where Allah says about ‘munkireen’ that they think they are playing joke with Allah, but in fact Allah is playing joke with them. Someone can correct me.

One example of ‘humor’ by stretching its meaning…I can come up with is the fact that Musa AS (Moses) was born in Firaun’s (Faroha’s) house.

Good question by the way.

Re: Do you think God

Yes I do have a sense of humor.

Re: Do you think God

has anyone ever experienced those incidents when you are thinking about something and it pops right in front of you somehow; be it numbers, words, a sentence or a person, which is totally unexpected and you just smile and the next minute it happens again and you say what a coincidence and then...it happens again, 3 times in a row!

Re: Do you think God

Re: Do you think God

If Allah did not have sense of humor then how and why He create funny people ?

Re: Do you think God

Humour or humor (see spelling differences) is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement.

Read this definition and tell me if Allah has a sense of humor.

............Jeeeeeeesusssssss? O.O

lol, ok seriously now. Jo hota hay Allah SWT ke hukum say hi hota hay.

So when we laugh it is by his call and permission. So I believe yes, he does have.

Besides it is us humans who created this along with many things that God does not like, but enjoys it as we evolve and grow out to be complete clowns. :@:

I was talking about the word....

Re: Do you think God

The question to ask is not "Does God have a 'sense' of humour?" but rather to entertain the idea of humour. Something may be funny to someone and not funny to another. However, everyone may indeed find something funny even though that funny thing is not shared as being funny by everyone.

"God having Created us, has Created our tendency to find things funny" does this mean that He has a sense of humour or not, or can it simply mean that God Knows humour because he Created humour.

Then you can ask other questions about humour such as why we laugh. Usually it is conflict that causes a reaction, so some sort of contained "confusion" makes us lapse into a gesture that makes us show our teeth. This is a deep psychological reaction to either attempt to passify a situation or allow us to handle the confusing stimulus in a recordset that we call "humour".

To say "a sense of humour" means that it is "one from a set of many" - rather it may again be more accurate to say that "God has all senses of humour" because they all come from Him. We can say that humour changes our state of being and mindset, can we entertain such a notion with God? Will the same joke played over and over again be just as funny as it always has been to us? If you know the punch line will you laugh? Is humour necessitated by surprise? If it is then can anything surprise God?

These are just ideas for the counter-argument ... Regarding the statements in the Qur'an, they are phrased differently that what has been stated above.
